Talking weight loss and such, the new gym is now officially open. Went by at lunch today to scope it out, the only negative (which I expected) was they don't have a power rack.

So squats will be on the smith machine or with dumbbells :(

Other than that I dig the layout, colors, and cleanliness of it. Plenty of cardio machines (including step climbers @Big Gucci Sosa) after a bit of research I found a solid total body 3 day split, will use the other 2 days to do abs/cardio.

Have lost about 10lbs already just from portion control, not doing keto or anything specific just trying to eat less per meal mostly.

Squats with dumbbells are excellent exercises. Squats on the smith machine are some of the worst exercises you can do. Since that machine's barbell is on a fixed bar path, you don't get full range of motion, which ends up putting sheering force on really important joints like your knees and lower back.

You could do a HIIT cardio workout based on dubbell squats doing goblet squats, overhead squats, and thrusters. Throw in some pushups and crunches in between sets, and keep your breaks around 45-60 seconds.

Lawd y'all, we made it months without the JG stuff and now we find out in 25 days. Please, can we just wait and see at this point?
Imo he put it to rest last year. He did his part. But I don't doubt some, not you (mostly the FF) will move the goalposts.

I usually do 185 with GVT of 10x10 and usually achieve the full 10 sets with all 10 reps. I know that's necessarily a heavy weight but I sweat and it really impacts my max.

40 yrs old.

10x10 is nasty, I don’t care what the weight is. Especially if you are still hitting your rep target on that final set. I’m not one for GVT. I like to spread that volume out, lol

Yeah, I think some people like to Front Squat with the smith since the limited bb travel helps form. But I'll probably just hold a couple heavy DBs and squat, the range of motion is what's important. The program I'm following specifically uses hip dominate leg workouts (squats and deadlifts) along with knee dominated leg workouts (hamstring curls & Bulgarian split squats) to engage both ends of the hamstring.

I like to eat pizza. Most of the time they are XL pizzas with a ton of toppings, extra cheese and extra sauce because its just better that way. That's a lot of weight right there. At least 5 lbs per pizza. And the squats I have to do in order to obtain said pizza used to be a clean 200 lbs. Due to my age though I had to drop it to around 185 now.

God bless anyone that has to talk with the IRS. Gave us a ph# for customer service, I go through a 3 minute automated menu, then they say the wait is too long and they can't take the call. Try calling Wednesdays or Thursdays...but oh yeah ALL your shiz (incorrectly calculated) is due in 10 days. Thank you for your business

The assumption by JG believers is that with more opportunity the numbers will just improve and he'll continue to be accurate & take care of the ball. That's my hope as well.

But there is always the chance more volume can lead to more mistakes (Tyler Bray is a great example). I think JG is a better overall QB and it'll be his 3rd year in college so from a mental/condition standpoint he should be about optimal. Even with equal line play to last season I expect he'll have improved numbers. With good/great line play and he could have a very strong season.

I'd settle for 2500 yards and 20+ TDs with a 2:1 or better TD to INT ratio. If he does that we should win 7 games assuming the rushing game is producing 1500+. Ultimately we just need massive improvement in yards offensively. More yards = longer drives = more TOP = more wins.

I was a competitive powerlifter in my late teens and early 20s. I had over 500 on my back and its not much fun. There is absolutely zero reason for me to squat now a days, jut run and keep the upper body in shape. Squatting is serious business but hey you do you.
Good for you. Squat heavy and live to tell the stories.
There is no “must” lift to do. As long as you can retain your muscle mass into old age, you are in a good place. Loss of muscle mass is directly correlated with all sorts of age related illness and injuries.

Personally, I just love the movement. I’m old enough to realize no one cares what I squat. If I someone 350 or 400, same reaction, because I’ll never be freakishly strong, so that’s fine. I do it for me.

Speaking of... the squat rack awaits me

Once the barbell is to much, I’ll switch to goblets squats full time.
