Not counting vacated games, Saban went 2 and 6 in SEC play during his first year. He was 8 and 0 in his second year.

Part of me wants to keep my expectations low so I won't be disappointed but I'm also expecting a second year surge.

We need to beat at least one of FLA, ALA or UGA and combine that with 3 wins against Vandy, KY and USCjr. That will get us bowl eligible with a couple of wins over non conference teams and I'd be satisfied that the season was a success if that all happens. That's what I expect. Am I expecting to much too soon?

What's your expectations?

Every bit of me wants so badly to say we beat fla this year. But, I’ll be satisfied with 7 wins, some close-or at least competitive-losses and hopefully a bowl win.

I think folks underestimate what solid LB play can do for a defense. I also think people underestimate the impact that an elite true freshman can make on the offensive line in the SEC.

To'o'to'o and Crouch put in a good year while Taylor and Thomson lock down the perimeter. Morris is Freshman All-SEC. Throw in a Chaney offense and you've got yourself a 9-3 season. 10-2 if Trey Smith stays healthy.

We will bury the usual suspects and Florida will be a hard fought game, could go either way. We always play GA tough, who knows. Bama probably a loss this year on the road.

5-7 or worse, hes not making it here.

6-6 very meh, I'll have doubts about him making it, but not necessarily all out.

7-5 is a reasonable expectation.

8-4 would be a really a good season, and I can honestly say I wouldnt be surprised to see us here.

9-3 or better....we back.

I'll go 7-5 on a prediction.

That we will have this same exact thread, just worded (only slightly) differently at least 200 more times before the first kickoff.

Not everyone has the luxury of reading VOLNATION everyday. Wish I could. That being said, if this thread was posted before I apologize. I'm just hungry for the season to start. When it does, it always passes to quickly. GBO!!!

Maybe Dooley bamboo finally sprouts... was about 8 years off and two coaches removed, but better late than never.

The 2019 Vols will not be skunked by anybody. They will score in every game. They will play to win every second that's on the clock. There will be no quit in any of them. They will play to win against every opponent. This includes Bama. They will give their all for Tennessee. We will be proud of our team, proud of our university, proud to wear orange & white. GBO.

7-5 regular season and a trip to a bowl. I expect multiple TD losses to UF, Bama, an UGA, however, we need to be competitive with all the other teams even in losses. Beat a team we are not supposed to (Like Missouri) and win the games against teams we are supposed to beat.

Not having all but one of our losses be by over 25pts like last year.

Need to be competitive and show progress for recruits to take notice.

Keep improving, hopefully avoid injuries, but just keep improving, Vols are still 1 or 2 years away from matching up with better teams

Saban didnt have to follow Butch Jones mess either. When Pruitt had to hire and redo the strength and condition program and redid the weight room. That should tell you what Pruitt means by having to change the culture at Tennessee football.

7 wins would be the baseline. Winning all of November should be the expectation every year. Beating the gators would be next. Not getting blown out by anybody.

8 wins and I will be happy with the progress. Also, I don't want to see UT get blown out by any team; otherwise, I will be disappointed. My BVS has me on guard.

To see a team that is conditioned and playing into the fourth quarter physically with the better teams. Bama, UGA, and UF all have experienced QB's returning and plenty of talent on both sides.

Several of the rest have lost a lot of NFL level talent and or are replacing QBs. I think Mizzou (away) is next toughest game.

I think State and SC are the hinge games because of where they land on the schedule. If the rest plays out as it should there's no reason not to expect 7 or 8.

No more close games to inferior opponents

Better play from LBs and CBs

8-4

Jennings puts up big numbers

Morris and Smith grade the left side of the DLines all season

Tennessee fans and Pruitt smile a lot more

Ansley and Friend earn raises
