'20 GA ATH Arik Gilbert (LSU commit)

When I saw Gilbert on Thursday he knew he was going to Clemson for sure. After that he didn’t know. The Alabama people that I talk with seem to think he is coming there today. Georgia folks seem to think that he isn’t going to be in Athens. It appears Tuscaloosa is a good possibility for him today.

Then Theo Johnson goes to a Northern school closer to home, like Michigan or even PSU. That would be 0-3 when Kirby thought he would get to cherrypick 2.

Gilbert got a cloudy prediction from Rusty. Not sure if it’s bama or UT picking up momentum. Doubt it’s clemson, but I guess they can’t be counted out.

At this point it is about visits heading into his senior season. He visited Clemson and Alabama this past weekend.

He took an official visit to Alabama and June with his family and was back again this weekend in Tuscaloosa with them.

As far as recents UGA visits, he was in town for the spring game and was back for an afternoon in late June.

He has also made multiple trips to Tennessee since May. There are rumors he has made more visits to Knoxville than have been reported in that time frame. I have not ask him about that, but two different sources told me recently. He can go up there any time with his high school teammate Harrison Bailey committed there as well.

Looking at this weekend, I thought was a key in what he was thinking some. He visited Clemson on Friday to hang out with their commits, then headed to Alabama for the weekend.

Now with the season starting and a new dead period (August) , he would not be back in Athens until at least until September 7th. The most likely case would be for the Notre Dame game on September 21st.

I am not saying that Georgia is out of this by any means, but I am saying his actions and visits are telling me this is much more wide open right now for him than others may think.

He has said that he could possibly make a decision in September at some point. Georgia needs to get him back on campus with his family sooner than later in my opinion.

Ya. Looking at the big picture, I would guess UT picking up steam. Knee jerk reaction would be bama/Clemson. Think secking said bama is focusing on Gilbert instead of Washington, so I’d lean bama over Clemson in that scenario.

the plot thickens. still don't see anything there that leads me to believe anything different than before. we're in it. i feel confident in that. but now it sounds like we're competing with Bama AND UGA..........lol.
