The Atlanta Braves

if that’s the best offer then keep him until the off-season
Article in The Athletic pretty much said that not only was that their best offer for him but that they were afraid the Mets would withdraw it and move on if they didn't act fast. The whole situation is strange.

"The history between Atlanta general manager Alex Anthopoulos and the Blue Jays led to some speculation that the Jays and Braves were resistant to trading with each other. Though Ken Rosenthal recently noted that Toronto’s “stance has softened,” it might not have dropped altogether, as The Athletic’s David O’Brien tweeted that “the word was that Toronto would deal with him [Anthopoulos], but would ask for more from [the] Braves” in talks involving Marcus Stroman than they would from other teams. Stroman is off the table now, of course, though it would be interesting to know if this reported stance from the Jays extends to other trade chips who could be on Atlanta’s radar, like Ken Giles." - MLBtraderumors

Surely they aren't this petty.

We get this treatment because we have the best farm system in baseball.

The price would probably be different if a millionaire were buying your car instead of a homeless man.

So.. when are we gonna talk about Max Fried being a two pitch guy having a worse age 25 season as a full time member of the rotation than Sean Newcomb? (And I like a Max Fried)

FACTS. ONLY.

His slider, at least statistically, is pretty good but he rarely throws it. I’ve always wondered why.

Edit: can’t locate that curveball anymore. That’s his biggest problem.

Pick up a Wheeler/Thor/Greinke

Pick up a decent RH reliever

Let Gausman/Folty sword fight over the 5th spot

Put Max in the pen for the stretch run

Get rid of the bums

Postseason:
Soroka
Wheeler/Thor/Greinke
Julio
Keuchel

Acquired RH reliever
Swarzak
Newk
Fried
Gausman
Folty
Jackson
Webb/Sobotka/whoever is throwing the ball okay in September

Proofs in the pudding brother don’t care about the circumstances

No, I’m with you. He has fallen off hard. I’m seriously wondering why he hasn’t thrown his slider more. I’m gonna look up the stats on it.
Our pitch mix confuses me on the whole but 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m not down on Max ftr, just weird that he gets love and yet he’s practically the same guy as he who must not be named.

His ERA skyrocketed to 2.66. I’ll welcome the discussion anytime. My white knight isnt rotting in Gwinnett. Adam Duvall made more impact on the 2019 season in two games than balloon ERA.

I’m also fine with the current arrangement. We need a guy Newk in the pen that can give us two shutdown innings or get lefties out. He’s incredibly valuable in that role.

Meanwhile, despite Max’s struggles, he’s at least capable of getting you five innings per stat, something Newk struggles with because of the high pitch count. We can try Newk again as a starter over the offseason but this is the best move for the team.

No one is talking about Newk being in the rotation.

I am talking about putting Fried in there. You want to upgrade the postseason rotation? Don’t send two pitch Fried through the order a second time.
