She was beaming throughout the competition in winning the skills competition.

Did you mean contests? Because this is the first year the WNBA did that.

But in 2008 Nicki Anosike won the prestigious NCAA woman of the year award while Candace Parker won AP, Naismith, and John Wooden national player of the year awards.

That same year Candace was also the Rookie of the year and WNBA MVP.
