All the SECE teams negative recruit UT. Aggressively. Auburn and LSU do, too. Arkansas and Ole Miss have this Takeover Memphis thing going. And Jimbo seems on a swoop and steal mission for some of our top recruits.

UT is the most negative recruited team in the conference. Bama probably does it the least.

The season can't start soon enough. And it needs to be a good one.
The thing about negative recruiting is that it can blow up in people’s faces. If we have a good season (8-4), then Pruitt looks like a badass and recruits will take notice in a big way.

If we have a strong September, I think more recruits will start buying in. Even a good fall camp will help.

The problem with "wait and see" is some need to see.

If we have a strong September I think we land 2 to 3 , 5 star prospects this year and several highly rated 4 star prospects. Barring we make it to a bowl game this year instead of imploding at the end of the season.....

This team is not going to be underwhelming. IMO if the staff thought this team was gonna be in trouble they would probably be paying recruits at this point. (see last year as an example) Pruitt literally told Paris Johnson “don’t come here if we don’t win at least 8 or 9 games” if that doesn’t tell you that this teams about to kick some serious a— idk what will. Come October we’ll be top 10. Hell, we’ll probably get some big news on some guys like Rybka next month (because I just can’t take Kentucky seriously as a contender for anyone we’re after, any player that has committable offers from both and picks UK deserves the beating and disappointment they’re gonna get their entire college career). Hell we likely get a Commit or 2 this week. Hyatt for sure, maybe Hardy or Whitehead but chances are slim. Less people visiting = more time to focus on high priority guys like Washington.

Right. We've reached that point where most of the guys who're in on faith are in and the others need to see it on the field. Pruitt either can play the long game and wait for the elite guys he wants or take the Plan Bs, who're a little less of a fit or need more development.

Continuing to play the long game shows confidence that he can deliver. Letting Plan Bs head elsewhere because they don't have a committable offer this early underscores that he feels good about what he's going to put on the field.

Phil Steele has us with the 7th toughest schedule w-o-w. Guess he's high on a lot of the SEC.

7. Tennessee Volunteers (6.5 wins, 300-1)
"The Vols get three straight home games to open the 2019 campaign, but in their next four games, they face Georgia, Mississippi State, Alabama and South Carolina. Tennessee brings back 10 starters on offense, including its top two rushers and top seven receivers. The Vols are the second-most experienced team in the SEC, coming in at No. 21 on my experience chart. The road to six wins will not be an easy one, but if the Vols can secure an upset or two, a bowl game is well within reach.'"

UT needs a season where they overachieve based off of talent and expectations. We’re caught in the middle in that we need to win more to attract more talent, but we may need more talent in order to win more.
We've got some talent, experience and lines worry me. Oh, that, and everyone we play, that matters, has some talent also.
But you're right, we really need to make a coaching statement.

Yall remember when Pruitt's account tweeted out congratulations to his former high school for winning a championship in basketball? We self-reported that as an NCAA violation (apparently they qualify it as an endorsement of a coach/program) and they took away 4 "Recruiting Evaluation Days" from us for that. The NCAA is a power hungry joke.

Perfect example of how tough the SEC is and how difficult UT's schedule is each season. We've been talking all off season how much easier this falls schedule is compared to recent seasons and yet it's still top 10 in difficulty nationwide.

SIAP

Cutcliffe on Fulmer as AD:

“Based on that experience, the former longtime Tennessee assistant coach and current Duke head coach has advice for the Vols: Don’t Fulmer him go.

“They better try to hang on to him as long as they can,” Cutcliffe told WATE ink Knoxville on Thursday. “That would be my advice.”

“Phillip is a great organizer,” Cutcliffe said of his former colleague. “He has the ability to emphasize things and then make them happen.”

“When he took the job over as head coach, I told him tonight, I’ll never forget him saying that we’re going to go to another level, but he talked about how to do it,” Cutcliffe said.

“Phillip is a doer,” he added. “When he’s going to be in charge of Tennessee athletics, you’re going to see things move forward.”

After a few night of starting it too late and falling asleep to it, I have finally FINALLY watched Sling Blade. My wife has given me grief for years for having never seen it. but her funny impersonations has always made me want to see it.

I was really torn at the end and not sure what to think. It was almost like watching Dexter.

Look... if we don't get to a bowl game this season is a disaster and will destroy our recruiting.

But that will NOT happen.

Dear diary.....

Been 24 hours but Im still steaming, so allow a mini rant here...

I posted maybe a year ago about my having to petition for emergency custody of my kids. Since I got my kids, I've been the sole provider. I'm not complaining about that. I'm fortunate enough to have a job that allows me to do so - although times are sometimes tight, like the next couple of months when they all have birthdays and we school shopping etc. My ex wife doesn't work and doesn't even try to provide for the kids. She is basically homeless, bouncing around between her family and friends couches I guess.

When she had custody from our divorce, she was getting child support and spousal support from me. When I got custody, the child support got terminated (obviously) but the spousal support was only suspended. We've got to court over that now twice. I've told two different judges that I'm willing to not ask for child support if she'd be willing to drop the spousal. She refuses and when i told her if she didn't drop the spousal, I would ask for CS... her reply was "go ahead and try, you'll not get any." Sent me that via text like she's proud to be a dead beat.

Despite testifying that her disability claim was rejected, despite it being proven that she maintained a YMCA membership for the past several years (minus the past year or so), despite having employment records that show she was eligible for rehire in the school system (she was a teacher the duration of our marriage), despite testifying she hasn't even applied for a job since 2015 (we've been seperated since 2013 and divorced since 2014) - the first judge flat out refused to terminated the spousal support.

I appealed to the circuit court and we went back yesterday. She shows up without a lawyer and was nothing but disrespectful to me, my lawyer, and even the judge. The judge had to explain things to her repeatedly. The baliff had to instruct her to stand, or sit, or remain behind her table etc multiple times. She would be presented with evidence in plain black and white, and she would deny it and say it wasn't true or that the courts shouldn't even have that information because it was private. Judge had to explain that it was all available by soupena, and my ex would argue that "it wasn't fair." Etc Etc Etc

I could go on. It was a **** show. Even this judge elected to just continue our case until October. He said because she said she is petitioning her denial for disability, that he wants to give her time to get that resolved. He also said he wants to see what my income is closer to the end of the year. In the meantime, I have to send another 3k to the courts for a bond to cover the what would be arrears spousal support, within the next thirty days. And of course I have to give my lawyer probably another 1-2k at least.

I mean, I'm just so frustrated. I'm no saint but I'm a single dad, have a career, no criminal history, don't drink or use drugs, I literally just work, provide as best for my kids. My ex is an intentionally underemployed alcoholic who is a perpetual victim, takes zero accountability for anything, has zero involvement with her children save for about a 20 minute awkward phone call with the kids each week.... and I have to fight tooth and nail just to end spousal support. I mean, as bad as she came off yesterday - I'm convinced that if the judge didn't dismiss it then, then he's just not going to.

I don't get the court systems at all. The logic is so beyond fcked up.
