Top 10 QBs based on 247 Rankings.

Harrison Bailey has thrown for the most yards per game and played the least amount of games out of the QBs in the Top 10.

But was he able to do an impressive Riverdance while throwing for all those yards?
Priorities, son.

Looking up all these stats and putting them in this chat via cell phone was a feat let me tell ya and I would say the amount of negative yards Bailey has says something about his moxie in the pocket. Seems like he stays in there and tries to find the open receiver.

Nice research. I don't place a ton on Y/G myself. So much of that is based on play selection. I always tout this when it comes to JG. It is about efficiency and what you do when given the opportunities. Now it is possible HB is less efficient given he has so much responsibility within their offense (36 pass attempts/game). If you chop it up as YPA, he is still 8th at 8.61, just above Pyne, and everyone is above Doty Cock.

In terms of efficiency, DJ and Haynes absolutely destroy everyone. It's a shame Clemson/A&M didn't schedule their matchup 2 years later. That would be one hell of a matchup.

His yards per completion are 13.7 but I basically agree.

Because nobody is close in attempts per game. This is almost the inverse of JG.

Correct Harrison Bailey throws approximately 36 passes a game.

But that is normal now a days..... wonder why the other QBs don’t throw nearly that many? And if you look at that stat it also means he takes very good care of the ball only throwing 11 interceptions with 36 passes attempted per game.

Be honest, you did because 1vol8 pissed you off. This thread reeks of FF.

Believe what you want. I don’t get pissed off over a discussion board lol. Sorry to bring stats that everyone can view about all QBs in the Top 10.

I just felt like a lot of people were saying Bailey shouldn’t of dropped etc. without knowing what his stats are. I do also see the favoritism to the Dual Threat QBs but honestly their stats don’t lie.... so I can see why they are higher on the rankings.

Not if his name was jg.

There is a difference between what I’ve seen from HB and JG.... HB floats the pocket.... JG used to just stand flat footed. He seems to have fixed that some this year. Expecting a good fall practice from him.

I think I've missed something. What was all this work about and what does it have to do with our UT program?

Guess you missed the part about HBs stats and his ranking compared to the top 10 QBs in the nation and why compared to the other QBs he might have fallen in the rankings? Or maybe you will see why you think he shouldn’t of fallen in the rankings?

But you know I am not very smart so.... yeah

Yes, he made extreme progress last year under Helton. If he continues said progress, he will move from top ~30 to top-10 nationally.

Not to disagree completely, but it should also be noted the recruiting services don't put nearly the amount of emphasis on HS production that many fans believe they do. There are so many variables in the HS game vs the college game. Then there are "system" players and kids surrounded by talent vs not surrounded by talent. And poor effort/mechanics can even be gotten away with if the kid has immense physical advantages.

That is part of why they pour over film and want to see kids in camps. They want to see the fundamentals, mechanics, etc up close and in-detail. The same way Pruitt doesn't trust things, he wants to see it for himself.

I agree completely with all of this.

What do you expect him to do? He’s a pocket QB if they call a pass he’s going to throw or get sacked. Dual threat can run the ball on plays where their wrs are covered. Bailey has to throw it away, take a sack or throw into coverage.

Sorry to burst your bubble but HB has played in 25 games and avg 298.6 yds per game 70 tds 16 ints and 7,465 yards with a 63.2 completion %.

Marietta has never had a run game until last year and the starter was hurt first game! Every Friday night the other teams game plan is to stop the pass. This means a lot of blitzing and exotic pass coverages a lot of 7-8 man coverages. Plus they play night in and night out some of the toughest teams in the country!

While having only 1 College worthy o-lineman his whole career.

I really like HB and am so glad he is here so don’t flame me for asking this...

Can someone explain to me the 89 carries and -111 rushing yards? Did he just get sacked a lot? Someone help me wrap my head around this.
