I'd be more surprised if Florida and Missouri BOTH are in the top 3.

I think Georgia at 1 makes sense...and I think we can win 4 games and finish 2nd or 3rd.

2 of our SEC road games are against teams who lost a lot and are games we could win (Kentucky & Missouri). @Florida is what it is, I like that it's an early season game and hope it means they haven't "figured it out" on the offensive line yet. But every season Florida is a "believe it when I see it" game for me, just how it is.

USC is going to be hurting...Alabama, @Missouri, @Georgia, Florida, @tennessee, and then finish @A&M... I put their cap at 3 wins this year in the SEC...

My picks in the East if I was asked based on schedule and returning talent
1. Georgia
2. Missouri (probably the best schedule Ole Miss & Arkansas for west opponents should be 2 wins right there)
3 or 4. Tennessee
3 or 4. Florida (could be 3rd if they beat us and have the tie breaker)
5. South Carolina
6. Vanderbilt
7. Kentucky (lost too much)

I wanted to put Vanderbilt ahead of South Carolina based on schedule...but Mason hasn't shown he can win more than 6 games and they lost a lot
pretty much agree. schedule is a big deal concerning MO and USCe. one has a very favorable one, the other doesn't.

i think FL is probably a solid 2 or 3, no lower.

i think 5 is about right for us, assuming we could lose to USCe and wind up with the same SEC records (4-4 most likely).

UK and vandy both lost a lot, but them finishing that low means we likely are predicted to beat both of them.

Where is this Mizzou hype coming from? They lost their QB. That typically leads to a down year.
schedule is extremely favorable, and they replaced Locke with Kelly Bryant, GT QB from Clemson. a lot of people wouldn't be surprised if they finished 2nd behind GA.

Make no mistake, Missouri will be 2nd in the East by the time the dust settles. I'm just hoping we manage to pull that one out somehow (maybe Bryant fades since it's late in the season?)

While starting for Clemson in their playoff run (put out by Bama who won it all that season). He beat very good teams in Louisville, V Tech, FSU (with Jimbo still), and a 10 win Miami & Auburn team also beat USC (a 9 win team that year). Hoping Dooley doesn't know how to handle a true running QB like Bryant and that's the hiccup for them. But they got 4 very easy wins in Arkansas, Ole Miss, Vandy & Kentucky...

We get them after they play @ Georgia and home against Florida...so I'm hoping they've lost the East and have the same sort of letdown UK did last season.

We also get USC at home after they play @ Georgia and home against Florida... odd how that worked out.

I have bad memories of the all orange jerseys. For years it has been considered a curse.

Having said that, just once in my life I want to see all orange versus all crimson on the 3rd Saturday in October.
In the mid-60s I recall it being orange vs. red (tops) on a grass green field ... almost like a Rook game.

I would sure love to see someone look at the SEC Media Day preseason predictions against actual outcomes. I think it would show you that many folks in the media are more interested in writing glorified personal interest stories than anything resembling an informed analysis.

The vast majority of media members are influenced by two things; personal bias and the echo chamber in which they operate. Serious analysis by journalists (on any topic) is rare IMO. I don't try to really study college football, have no idea when Tennessee will turn the corner, but the media consensus is unlikely to see any turning point until after the fact.

...I wonder if we're finally entering a new phase of Tennessee football history where nobody respects us: not because they are rivals that hate us but because they honestly think we have a glass ceiling and can't accomplish much, similar to a Vandy or a Kentucky. No longer a residual belief in pockets of the media that we're "Tennessee" and surely we'll "be back..." Honestly, that might be better for our program in the near term...
