No one is perfect but his material has been consistently better than his competitors.I really like ubben. But even he has had some meh articles. The one about gary Patterson started well and I wanted to know more but it wasn't anything new just a rehash that could've been fully stated in a tweet imo. But I think he does a great job overall. I don't always agree with his points but I really appreciate how he presents them. And the subscription is definitely worth it.
Ubben was the wet blanket to my Vol optimism last season. Years groomed watching bad Big 12 teams. Comes to Tennessee, sees us up close, and basically says we are worse. Then we go and lose 6 games by 26+ points.... he’s still not overly optimistic this year, I don’t think.
Spending that money. Finally. Army of support staff too...Salary Totals:

Ansley -- 1 million
Friend -- 800k
Neidermeyer -- 350k
Johnson -- 500k
Weinke -- 350k
T Martin -- 450k (still getting money from USC)

Speaking of Ubben, here are a few small bits from his Q&A today.I think Ubben is great. He goes on Swain, Basilio, and Fox Sports Knox frequently. Love to hear his perspective. Highly recommend the Athletic for any of you sports people out there.
Q: What’s the latest scoop on J.J. Peterson? It doesn’t seem that there has ever been a point where people around the program were like “he’s coming along & going to pan out”. Thanks!
A: We'll see. Give him time. He came in out of shape last year, and the mental aspect of the game was a major task during the spring. He still hasn't even been on campus a year. Not everybody can walk into a program and get on the field immediately. It's harder than some guys make it look. A lot more don't contribute until their later years. That's really an underrated sign of a strong program. "Great recruiting class! See you guys in a couple years!"
Q: Do you think it's more likely Tennessee goes 8-4 or 4-8?
A: Interesting question. Both are theoretically possible. If all of Tennessee's contributing freshmen look great and we see progress from the returning talent, 8-4 is possible, especially with this schedule. However, if Tennessee is dealing with a ton of injuries and some of the freshmen are slow to come along, 4-8 is on the table. That said, I've picked Tennessee to go 7-5 multiple times this year so I'll go with that number that's one away from my pick, rather than the one that's three away.

I get their reasonings, but here’s my XV-nulla take:Have yet to see any writer that has seen this team up close to be too optimistic. Most expect more than last year, but not a ton more.
