Charles Barkley is very selective when he goes back to his alma mater for games. Whether it's football or basketball, Barkley doesn't like to watch Auburn lose. According to the former NBA star, Auburn is great place to be when the Tigers win but the campus is like a funeral when they lose. For that reason alone, he only attends sure-fire victories. Which game did the TNT studio basketball analyst pick to attend during last year's football season? Tennessee.
"I penciled in Tennessee on my schedule because I was like 'Tennessee's lost 20-something SEC games in a row" so I decided to take some of my boys with me and I told them that we were going to have a good weekend," Barkley said during an appearance Tuesday night at the Boys & Girls Club's 32nd annual Stake & Burger event at Middle Tennessee State. The Vols upset the Tigers 30-24 behind a 328-yard, two touchdown performance from quarterback Jarrett Guarantano.
"Midway through the game one of my friends turns to me and goes 'y'all are really going to lose to Tennessee' and I told him no because Auburn isn't that bad," Barkley said. "Then they went on to beat us and all I could say was 'damn!'.
Nah, it’s not his job to sit on stuff just because it would hurt Tennessee’s recruiting. He had legitimate stories and sources. There was truth in the Haney article and a **** ton of opinion and unnamed sources. So much of a hit piece, the accuracy became irrelevant.
Even worse, he was writing things that would drive recruits away in droves while working for a company that covered recruiting.
Dumbass deserved to be fired.

Slowing the game down on offense really helped. Something I was think about today was how much return the players get from their S&C work. With fewer plays on defense, I think we get better effort/play. I guess I’m hoping to see some real improvement in year two late in games. That, and more takeaways.Wonder how much our defense will be improved. He improved us like 40 spots in his first year with 2 freshmen corners. I think we see a massive improvement on defense. Even if the DL isn’t where we want it, there’s talent there, especially if Solomon is approved. Gonna be interesting to see
Ubben isn't one to sugarcoat things, and sometimes leans a little pessimistic at times. That comment caught my eye.
