2020 Presidential Race

We are the current scourge, and the more we understand our own impact, the better.

If you’re saying the US is the current scourge, China and India beg to differ. And bs politics is standing in our way of going full nuclear. In many ways, Policy has tied our hands to keep us where we are currently.

why the cash bail bit?

Lobbyists and their investors. Big crime pays very well, and they don't want to share the take. or tie up their money or employees.

According to the ACLU:

On any given day in 2015, roughly 700,000 people were locked up in local jails. The majority of them had not been convicted of a crime.

After an arrest — wrongful or not — a person’s ability to leave jail and return home to fight the charges depends on money. That's because, in most states, people are required to pay cash bail. Originally, bail was supposed to make sure people return to court to face charges against them. But instead, the money bail system has morphed into widespread wealth-based incarceration.

Poorer Americans and people of color often can't afford to come up with money for bail, leaving them stuck in jail

That's a lot of productive employees and potentially money tied up when those guys aren't out selling their wares to people they've so carefully addicted.

Rush Limbaugh: 'The left is totally crazy,' Democratic Party will 'fall apart' if Biden nominated

Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh warned the “lunacy” of the “left” should be a concern for people and speculated that if former Vice President Joe Biden does secure the Democratic nomination that the party will “fall apart.”

“We’re past the point of no return on this," Limbaugh told his listeners on Tuesday. "We’re past the point of thinking that it’s peaked, that it’s gonna start rolling back.

"It hasn’t peaked yet. Meaning this perversion, wackiness, lunacy on the left.”

Limbaugh was reacting to a tweet posted by Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., reacting to recent events in the news over the last week.

“In just the last 7 days we have decided that the Betsy Ross flag is offensive, to kick police officers out of Starbucks, boycott Nike (again) Starbucks (again) & now HomeDepot. And to lick Ice Cream at grocery stores & put back in freezer,” Rubio tweeted. “Has everyone gone crazy?”

The radio host responded to the tweet saying that many have underestimated the “left,” and noted that no one pushed back until President Trump came along.

“The left is totally crazy. They have been totally crazy for a long time. And too many people have looked at it as just a fringe minority that doesn’t pose any kind of new existential threat, and that’s just not accurate. They have been threatening and posing a threat for years. And there hasn’t been any push back until Trump came along,” Limbaugh said.

Limbaugh further said the Democratic party will nominate someone who “believes all this stuff” and predicted if Biden is nominated the party will “fall apart” but the movement will continue.

“They’re gonna nominate somebody that believes all of this stuff, the odds are. And if they end up nominating [Biden], that party is gonna fall apart. It may be in the process of falling apart anyway. But the left isn’t gonna fall apart,” Limbaugh said.

The conservative commentator warned that there are some Republicans who do not see, or choose to not see the “threat” posed by the “left.”

So now there’s some official pushback, and look what happened. Donald Trump wins the presidency on the basis that finally somebody sees it and wants to do something about it. And even with this we still have people who don’t see it yet or who don’t want to see it.

I don't agree with Rush often. If Biden is nominated, people will stay home and a DNC Civil War will be full bore.

He's raised more money than any other Democratic candidate last quarter. I know money isn't everything, but that is pretty impressive considering he was basically unknown last year. He has a damn good shot at the nomination. Just has to keep getting his name and message out there.

Won't get enough of the minority vote. My guess is most of the money is coming from white elites, many who probably support or are homosexuals.

Driving through rural Georgia and South Carolina I saw Tulsi (spelling?) Billboards all over on highway 20 and 95.

Nah. His chances where shot once he let wankers crying about the lawful shooting of a thug scumbag hijack his campaign.

Poorer Americans and people of color? Wtf racist nonsense is that.

Nobody is siphoning any votes from Bernie except for Warren, and his hardcore supporters will never abandon him even in the general (Bernie Bros. are a part of the reason we have Trump). Pete has to draw centrist Dems from Biden and Kamala. Gonna be tough, no question.
Bernies finished. They all are promising all the free ish he is. He's an old, white, male. Eeeeek.

Pinkerton: Liberal Dem Warns His Party ‘Stop Embracing Losing Issues’ or Trump Will Win

Here’s a headline from the Washington Post worthy of attention: “Democrats, stop embracing losing issues and focus on getting rid of Trump.”

That header appeared above an op-ed by veteran liberal columnist Richard Cohen. In his piece, Cohen painted a dire picture of the donkeys: “The Democratic Party is on a tear. One by one, its candidates have embraced losing issue after losing issue.” [emphasis added]

Did this Postie really opine that the Democratic presidential hopefuls, less than a year-and-a-half prior to the next national election, have “embraced losing issue after losing issue”?

Yes, that’s exactly what Cohen said, and he was happy to itemize some of those loser issues:
First came reparations for slavery, a noble idea lacking only popular support and practicality and possibly amounting to yet another attempt to right a wrong with money. Before that, the various candidates raised their hands in support of Medicare-for-all, which could strip millions of people of their private insurance plans. That is sure to be characterized by Trump as socialized medicine with the sick growing old and dying, covered in cobwebs while waiting to see the doctor.
Cohen added, “GOP strategists must be hyperventilating over all the goodies arrayed before them.” And then he snarked, “This is a campaign even Trump could win.”

There’s more: Cohen also took note of school busing, the liberal cause from the 1970s that Kamala Harris exhumed to attack Joe Biden. As Cohen recalls:
With the possible exception of the Civil War draft, no program has been more hated by working-class Democrats — more whites than blacks, but plenty of blacks as well. In large U.S. cities, busing was seen as an effort by liberals to send white kids to schools they would not, for a moment, send their own kids to.
To put it mildly, this sort of pessimism is not what Washington Post readers want to read, or what they are used to reading. For the two-and-a-half years of the Trump presidency, Post readers have been reassured, on a daily basis, of what most of them already believed: that Trump is just about the most wretched, stupid, wicked man ever to live in America, let alone to dwell in the White House.
