Mr. Buttigieg had more than 230,000 new donors in the second quarter, bringing his total to more than 400,000, his campaign said. The average contribution over the course of his campaign has been $47.42, according to his team. His campaign said it now had more than $22.6 million in cash on hand. Of that, $832,000 is earmarked for the general election and cannot be used in the primary.Sorry man, he's deep in the big donor money.

“This fund-raising report shows that Pete’s message is resonating with Americans, and it’s proof that we are building an organization that can compete,” Mike Schmuhl, his campaign manager, said in an early-morning email to supporters announcing the fund-raising total.

Well, if 3% of the population is gay, and they all gave $2, there you have your $22 million.Mr. Buttigieg had more than 230,000 new donors in the second quarter, bringing his total to more than 400,000, his campaign said. Something I've liked about Pete all along is that he isn't afraid to accept responsibility for when government fails us. He took responsibility for the short-comings of his police department in South Bend. He said he could have done better. And he proposes solutions and discussion on what can be improved.
This is what we should have in a politician. Plus all the other reasons he is a viable, strong candidate. He didn't raise all that money because he is an idiot.
CHICAGO -- Mayor Pete Buttigieg was just one of the presidential candidates to address the 2019 Rainbow PUSH Coalition Convention on Tuesday.

I used the same source as Burger. He must have skipped that portion in the NYT.
Well that math doesn't work out. $47 bucks on average. So either some gay dudes are giving extra, or he is actually reaching all types of people. He didn't go from no-name mayor in Indiana to top five in Democratic polls by accident in sixth months. He's going to climb in the polls as this primary continues because he is a solid candidate.Well, if 3% of the population is gay, and they all gave $2, there you have your $22 million.

When he gets on the ground in South Carolina and expands his campaign there, he will be fine. He's already expanding his campaign in Iowa and New Hampshire thanks to the cash from last quarter. People just need to hear his message and ideas.Unless he gets a piece of the black vote, he truly doesn't have a chance.

Black Democratic lawmaker on Buttigieg: 'Pete has a black problem'
“You’re running for president and you want black people to vote for you?” the woman said. “That’s not going to happen.”
“Ma’am, I’m not asking for your vote,” Buttigieg responded.
When presented with Buttigieg’s comments, Fudge told the Daily Beast that they depict a sense of “arrogance” and “entitlement.”
I'll own my mistake.

Nobody is siphoning any votes from Bernie except for Warren, and his hardcore supporters will never abandon him even in the general (Bernie Bros. are a part of the reason we have Trump). Pete has to draw centrist Dems from Biden and Kamala. Gonna be tough, no question.Pete Buttigieg needs black and Latino support to win. Here's why that could be a problem.
His homosexuality will kill him in the end sadly. He won't get the older Hispanic vote because of their social conservative nature. This could change at anytime however. He's going to have to siphon from Bernie or Biden, and I can tell ya he's not siphoning from Bernie.
The only way change like this happens is from the ground up. The third party would have to win on the state and local levels.

Man, Justin Amash is the new golden boy of VolNation the last few days lol.
Agreed that no one will supplant Trump running as a Republican, the Red Hats are too loyal. I kind of hope Amash runs as an Independent/Libertarian. He'll pull votes from Trump, so hopefully we will get a center left President out of it.

Bernie and Warren are really the only far left (as far as American politics are concerned) candidates. Most everyone else that stands a chance at the nomination in center-left.
