Ok you may or may not know my dad has Alzheimer’s. It’s tough. With a sudden change in behavior the first thing you have to do is rule out infection. Check his temp. My dad has had a stroke in the past and has difficulty swallowing making him susceptible to aspiration pneumonia. He has been hospitalized no less than 5-6 times each year since his diagnosis. First sign is always behavior/mental status change. Infection exacerbates symptoms of dementia. If he has an elevated temperature just go ahead and take him to the ED. Typically I would say give Tylenol or something to reduce fever. When dealing with dementia you need help friend.

Praying for you. I know it’s awful

This is so true. Infection really is a factor. I have a friend who's mother also has Alzheimer's. He had purchased a little scooter for his mother to maneuver around the house. He was on the couch watching TV when she rolled into the room and started ramming him with the scooter. Pulling forward and back hitting him. He told her to stop that she was hurting him but she continued. He finally had to cut the scooter off. Well this made her mad so she went into the kitchen and grabbed a butcher knife and proceeded to try and attack him with it. He ended up calling an ambulance and with it being a knife attack the police got involved. This was so out of character for her and he was befuddled by his mother's behavior. Turns out she had a very severe urinary tract infection. Once treated a couple of days in the hospital she returned to some semblance of normalcy. The worst part was dealing with the police. They did a full investigation and pestered him to death.

As a salty Hornets fan I’m going to have to disagree.

I hope when Lebron retires he becomes a majority owner of an NBA franchise to prove he’s better than MJ at that too
don't know about Lebron as an owner, but i've lived in Charlotte for 20 years and i've never seen a franchise find new ways to reset "the bottom" as much as the bobcats/hornets have.

absolutel abysmally run organization. they don't have a choice now but to blow it up and start over. they got nothing for Kemba....nada, zilch, zero.

that's just awful.........

It is mind boggling how dumb they can be. And their scouting department sucks too. I swear they only sit in on UK, Duke and UNC games.

yeah, they've not had a single 1st round pick matter since they drafted Kemba. it's a virtual who's who of "who cares" picks.

Predators going to sign Matt Duchene for about $8/million a year for 7 years. Great pickup, glad they didn’t overpay. Some estimates were saying he’d get $9-10/year.
I’m not disappointed we are signing Duchene by any stretch, and especially since it doesn’t appear that we overpaid as badly as I thought we would. But I think there is still work to be done to not be a middle or lower tier playoff team. Dallas got better, the bloosers won the cup, and Winnipeg is still very talented (although not as deep). If Duchene regesses to his mean, I’m not sure we are better off than with Subban. I think another decent sized move needs to be made.

I think we are better but agree with the point that we need more. I think Poile would like to unload Turris or Bonino and find some more scoring with the cap space, but not sure many will want to take on Turris cap. The scoring got better though with Duchene. A top two lines of the JOFA line and then probably Duchene-Granlund-Smith will be legit. We needed more scoring, we got it, but yeah I’m sure Poile would like to get even more.

Also, don’t forget about the Avs either. Central division is going to be an all out war next year.

Yeah and Chicago had a second half of the season that if they pick up where the left off after the all star break, they could be another team fighting us for a spot. And the Wild are adding people as usual. Not that it will do any good, also as usual.

First off, prayers for peace and strength for you, your family, and your loved one. I have shared about this subject in the past. It was a 10 year bout with dementia with my mother-in-law, one of the most loving people who has ever existed on this planet. I will not rehash the experience here. What we learned is below.

You will make mistakes. Do not feel guilty, you are doing the best you can.
Nothing about the disease is fair. It's awful. Accept it and move past the anguish of what it is doing to your loved one.
Caregivers are at high risk for health issues and even death. Take care. Rest, exercise and nourishment are keys.
If you have the financial ability use ALC's and nursing homes as appropriate. There are some good ones out there.
Spread the caregiving out to as many people as the loved one can handle. Contact with others helps them stay engaged.
Routines are hugely important. If family or friends visit try to make it routine as well. Day of the week, time of day, etc.
Imagine sitting in a room and with each passing day the room becomes a little smaller and darker. That's what is happening.
Do not argue or get bossy with your loved one. You will only confuse him/her. Agree and use the humor as has been suggested.
Music and singing are usually very calming for your loved one. A song will be remembered above anything else at times.
Bring photos from their past and go through stories and events. Repeat often even when it appears they don't get it.
If a Christian, pray. Daily. Stay engaged with your own life, it helps you to stay connected and sane.
Latch onto the good moments and make good memories. Sometimes there is a surge of good near the end. Be there if you can.

Thank you, you are exactly right in what to do and not do. The irony in all this, I work in an Assisted Living Facility with a memory care. It has helped in learning what to do with dad.
