I’m exhausted, literally exhausted. I know there is a few of you that have parents that have dementia. Yesterday, dad was having a good day. Today, from around 6 in the morning, it’s been horrific. He thought it was Saturday and missed preaching on TV this morning. From bringing in a kitten, that he found outside and is now frightened of. Haven’t been able to get him in shower all day (has taken 2 a day all his life), somehow has found clippers (while I was at the grocery store) and clipped his own hair (gapes all over), hasn’t eaten all day, throwing the remote a few times, screamed at neighborhood children for getting too loud. What do you all do?
Horford and Embiid are both decent 3 point shooters. But yeah they lost a lot of shooting. But they were gonna lose it anyway. I think they did a good job mitigating it.
Ok you may or may not know my dad has Alzheimer’s. It’s tough. With a sudden change in behavior the first thing you have to do is rule out infection. Check his temp. My dad has had a stroke in the past and has difficulty swallowing making him susceptible to aspiration pneumonia. He has been hospitalized no less than 5-6 times each year since his diagnosis. First sign is always behavior/mental status change. Infection exacerbates symptoms of dementia. If he has an elevated temperature just go ahead and take him to the ED. Typically I would say give Tylenol or something to reduce fever. When dealing with dementia you need help friend.
Praying for you. I know it’s awful
It's tough, my friend I feel your pain. Fortunately we have several that help with my mom. Dad has the brunt of it though. My respect for my dad has grown exponentially since my mom has come down with this dreadful disease.I’m exhausted, literally exhausted. Lost momma to Alzheimer's years ago and I feel you on the exhausted, I remember. Childproof the home as best as possible..you have a very large toddler there now. Humor is key, both to your own sanity and as a behavioral/mood changer for your dad. Find things to make both of you laugh since it releases happy chemicals to the brain. As for the not gonna do its..I used to challenge mom to do things and used a prodding humor to do it. Some days it worked, some it didn't and I rolled with that. Only you know your dad and what he might respond to best.
The best humor I found for myself was realizing that everything I was seeing in my mom, tantrums, obstinate refusals, etc., were more than likely pretty much what she dealt with from me when I was growing up. Do what you can, don't ever beat yourself up over it and love the time you get to spend with him.
Sending love , healing and hugs your way
Yeah their owner makes Jerry look good. Reportedly they tried to offer kd less than a max contract. HahaI’m not an nba guy but why is it so hard for the knicks to become a good team or attract talent? It’s usually the flashy cities that get big time talent but the knicks constantly suck.
Is it bad ownership, similar to the Dallas Cowboys?
Dolan is a moron. Not quite sure how they relate to the cowboys though. Cowboys actually attract talent.I’m not an nba guy but why is it so hard for the knicks to become a good team or attract talent? It’s usually the flashy cities that get big time talent but the knicks constantly suck.
