Does anyone know when the next 247 rankings update will be if there is another for 2020?

It was reported there will be one after the Summer. The one back in ...I believe it was Feb or March iirc, was the one to take into account the 2018 season. The post-Summer update will be to take into account all the camp activity.

Big, fast, run football imo
Is he fast though? Maybe we will find out more this season at his higher weight or if he camps and gets timed. 247 thread on him said he was timed at 4.49 once when he was 197 lbs, but at the UT camp was timed twice and 4.59 was the fastest. He is now 230 lbs and hasn't ran any timed 40s this year.

I guess we need a bigger back once in awhile and he fills that role. But give me the small shifty guys all day. Love a quick, slippery runner that can still lay a freakin lick like Kelly did. Chandler has some of that as well. Kamara OFC.

Doug Matthews said this morning that coach told him that last year we had 6 300 pound players who had the strength to match that weight. This year he said we have 23 of those guys

Saw a pic of palmer yesterday either he always had huge biceps or he got super swole this offseason.

1. Kamara and Kelly were not small, shifty backs. They are both extremely solid.

2. Name all the top small, shifty backs that have been successful in the SEC recently. Big backs win in this league.

Was curious about who they may be and looked at our roster. According to the UTSports roster, we have 21 players of 300+, including Trey. 2 are walkons. Who knows when it was last updated, but I'd be interested who his 23 players are. The next closest player after this list was only 292. And he is basically saying 100% of those over 300 lbs have the "strength to match their weight" - which sounds great if our S&C program is hitting at that sort of rate.

Elijah Simmons DL Fr. 6-2 344
Trey Smith OL Jr. 6-6 337

I guess we just have different definitions then. I think of guys like Chandler and Kamara as really different than Banks or Hurd. Basically, bigger backs could also probably be an LB (Banks) or even TE (Hurd). Below are height/weights.

Chandler - 5'11 201
Kamara - 5'10 215
Kelly 5'9 205

Hurd 6'4 240
Banks - 6'1 218
Hodge - 6'0 230

Yes. But he narrowed it to guys 300+. I am just saying we don't even have 23 guys listed as 300+. And I'd be surprised if 100% of them have that attribute, especially considering 2 walkons and 4 or 5 true freshman. But Matthews likes to trumpet things and if he is even half-right, that is good enough for me.

Sorry, a little late on that now.

I assumed google maps could get a man there in a pinch

I wasn’t stabbed which means two things.

1. I must have done ok
2. None of you showed up
I was going to, but then I took a nap.

Jk. A little to far a drive on short notice.

He is going to be a beast this year. He finally learned how to reel it in last year. But 2020 will be his NFL money makin' season. He will be our true #1 and dominate.

On that list I think that only 6 or 7 of them were even over 300 lbs last year. Without even factoring in the strength. Haha Most of them either just got there or just gained the weight this offseason. I never thought niehaus or Tatum would ever get over 300. Now they may actually be able to be solid contributors. Our lines may be the biggest question marks this year. But at least we will have 10 to 12 guys on each line that are big and strong enough to play in this league. Gives some hope.

Yeah I don’t think of guys like Kelly (5’9 216 combine measurement) and Kamara as small shifty backs. I think of Devrin Young, McCluster, Jeff Demps, etc

Good change of pace guys, but need few bigger backs to be successful in this league imo

When was the last official public update?

UTSports only lists it as the "Summer Football Roster", but it is always messed up anyway. Like they have Savion Williams listed as a true freshmen?!? Who TFs job is this? They make it look like rocket science.

Also if you view Banks (6’1 218) as a bigger back and Kelly (5’9 216) as a smaller back, it sounds like you put more emphasis on measured height than the players body makeup? Kelly is built thicker than Banks.

I think we are kind of on the same page actually haha just coming at it from different angles

Exactly. No one really knows the true size of any of the guys. The same holds true throughout CFB.

Saying Matthews is just making it up? 23 does seem like a very specific number, wherever he came up with it. Not that I really care if he just whipped it up. I think his larger point is just that we are stronger in the trenches and that's all that really matters. We have been weak AF there for so long. Embarrassing.

Does anyone know what day King goes back home from the E11/Opening? Does his stint wrap up today or a later date? Just curious when we should start back up our Xanax mode.
