Probably posting something most of us already know....and that is 7.....7 of the last 11 years we have finished with a losing record. It hurts to say it, it hurt even more to watch it all go down. All the injuries, bad coaches and coaching decisions, good coaches that left, crazy one liners to get us pumped, and just a slew of head scratchers over the last 10 years that made you wonder what the hell was going on in K Town. I’ve been a VOL fan since ‘92 and have raised a fine young man to be a beloved VOL fan as well. We love watching them play and when we get the chance to go we stay till the end no matter the outcome. Needless to say, there has been more disappointments than victory celebrations. So I sit here tonight reading through the message board like I often do. This year I’m trying hard as hell not to put those orange colored glasses on, trying not to pour that tall glass of sweet orange koolaid. It’s very tempting to do so, because I do it every year. I get so pumped during the off-season and I wish my summer away just to see that team run through the T and watch the stadium erupt. Though I’m trying not to get super excited, I feel this season we have more to be excited about than the last 11 (aside from ‘15 &’16). We finally can see what a really good coaching staff looks like. Finally we can see that people are in place to try and make TN relevant again. In keeping the coaching staff together and acquiring some upgrades in coaching gives me hope. Fighting to keep a highly regarded S&C coach shows me someone up there is serious about winning again. The TENNESSEE brand is strong, alive and well. How many other schools could have 7 losing seasons out of the last 11 and still be able to recruit like us? Only a hand full I suppose. So tonight maybe I’ll pour me a glass of the sweet orange koolaid, because I honestly believe there is hope this year. I believe we’re finally on the right track to becoming a feared football team again.

Since your post count average is just 4per year I give you way more internet-credit than most "this is our year" off-season posts.

Pour me a glass of that koolaid.

If we win 8 games and punch folks in da' mouth even when we lose, next year I'll snort the koolaid.

Yeah, I'm hoping for more, but would be pleased with a 2015ish type of season...win a few we're not supposed to and maybe lose a couple of close ones to rivals who typically have been lopsided in last few years...but putting us on solid ground for another solid recruiting class and another year of building. I say all that to say, when was the last time we just flat came out an over achieved vs expectations, like bball vols last year? Would love to see us come out of the blue on the SEC and challenge for SEC East. It's the off season, so I'll keep drinking the kool aid until about game 4. Regardless, I think we're on the right path. A good staff w/ continuity, good S/C, and recruiting will ultimately start bringing us to the upper tier.

On staying to the bitter end... I had always done this too, always. However as I sat watching the UCLA game a few years ago, I noticed and felt something change early in the 3rd qtr. I felt and noticed a attitude change, one that to me, said I don't give a damn. Sense, I have been to one or two games in Knoxville (one Buffalo) and the farce in Nashville against Bowling Green. Left the Bowling Green game 3rd qtr. It's hard to "feel" this attitude watching on TV, but I have over the last years been able to "see" it. Let our team get behind and it rears it ugly head almost at once. It is always there, even when winning. If nothing else happens this year, I hope to not see this rotten attitude and in the few years I have left, I hope to never see it again.

Getting the best player's cures most every ailment you've mentioned, including players hanging their heads in defeat prior to the end of the game and way before the Fat Lady sings.
Granted the last decade has been one of more defeats than victories, but Pruitt will just have to recruit and coach his way back to winning ways, it won't be easy and there is a distinct possibility that it may not happen.
