Good luck at the Elite 11 final stage Harrison Bailey

Tennessee is still in the mix (with Texas A&M) for Haynes King. He will also be in the Elite 11. I don't think it matters how he does anymore. Bailey will only continue to go down in the rankings as long as he is committed to Tennessee... and if King should happen to commit to Tennessee? Watch him drop like a rock too... and that will be our confirmation that these rankings are a biased bunch of garbage. We aren't paranoid about this.

I'm gonna need some data showing recruits haven't dropped after committing to other schools before I can go down this rabbit hole.

They definitely have. I'm not saying that this is exclusive to Tennessee. There is a commitment-perception bias between the "haves" and the "have nots". That is, teams who have been winning conference championships in the last ten years and those who have not won a conference championship since say, 1998?

The 247 and Rivals guys aren't dumb.

What they really want is people to say their ratings are an accurate predictor of future production.

The Georgia/Bama/OSU's of college football consistently put players in the NFL at all positions.

So when a player commits to one of those schools they bump them up, and when they commit to a school that seems to squander talent they bump them down.

I don't have any proof they do this, but the reason that they would seems pretty clear.

The reason is clear? Without proof, this is just another biased claim. Can it happen, yes. Did it happen...I wonder. There is enough data out there to prove it one way or the other and put this notion to rest.
To say it happens but there is no proof is simply untrue.

The "haves" have definately recruited 4 and 5*'s while they were 4 and 5*'s. Recruits move up and down depending on interest from top programs. Can't recall the young man's name but a 5* DL committed to Houston a few years ago and maintained his 5* rating. That was because everyone else still wanted him. Plenty of these type examples and ones that go the other way. It's pretty fluid and based on assessment and interest levels of different programs.

A commitment to UT doesn't inhibit a star rating.

I'm tired of the topic and won't be replying to another post, but a recruit's offer list is only one factor in their ranking ... and I have yet to see an explanation for why Bailey has dropped more than 50 spots since late November (without even playing in one damn game) that makes any sense. He goes to all of these events, and he has by most accounts, stood out as one of the best.... and yet there he is on 247 with a ranking of 120. I hear what you're saying, I just don't agree with you. Sorry!

What kind of proof do you think exists? Smoking gun emails?

Unlike the majority of "they hate us" topics I was just outlining a valid reason they might bump up or down based on a commitment.

I believe they bump because of commitments. I think there are valid inconsistencies with where recruits are ranked and how they perform on the field and at camps. I think the ability to gerrymander the accuracy of their rankings is an easy motivation to do it.

But I'm not McGruff the crime dog dude I don't really care about proving ****.

We don't have to agree, but you would have to explain away the recruits that gained stars while committed to UT, in the past 5 years, to make your position feasible.

Agree to disagree, party on dude!

From Barton's own mouth - that rerank WAS their big reranking after the 2018 season:

"The primary driver for the QB re-rank was what they did this fall as opposed to the early returns from camp. This was our first chance to really do a deep dive on junior seasons and digest all of that info."

"We will have a ranking at the end of the summer that is driven primarily by camps as opposed to junior film. "

You don't need an email. Every article and star ranking on these recruits still exists. It's a simple solution and all the data is available. You brought up proof, not me. I'm good with saying " I believe" or " I feel", just not the definitive statement.

One thing also about Bailey is, in relation to his other QB prospects - he had one of the lower QB/INT ratios. Would still be excellent in college, but not up to the level of some of the other HS prospects. Now, he has ELITE talent around him. On the flipside, I've heard his OL is not up to par and most teams just try to take their passing game away.

By comparison, his TD:INT ratio was 5.5. King's was over 12.

Cool! Now how do you read into that the position you stated suggesting a commitment to UT will make his stars go down?

Just my .02 - yes ranking services will piggyback off offers from proven, elite evaluators. Yes, Saban is right at the top of them. The Bama bump probably is real...and probably makes a whole lot of sense!

You are totally right. I did bring up proof. Right here in my OP:
