Why do some of our fans love the SEC so much?

So you were disappointed sucked in 2000 and 2003 when we beat them but they were terrible?

I hope Bama never wins another game, in or out of conference. And one thing is for sure, if Bama starts to submit will have no bearing on whether we are good or not. Good to know so many Vol fans were rooting for the conference in 2007 instead of the Vols.
Your argument has devolved into grunts and whistles that don't make sense. Your last statement sounds like a 4 year old that didn't get a snow cone. Get over yourself. You can't name a single Vol Fan that pulls for the conference OVER the Vols, ever. Not one.

I know a ton of Bama fans because that's where I grew up. I know AU fans also but they are kind of inconsequential at this point.

This is an argument that I find curious:

Statement: I want everyone to suck but UT in the SEC.
Assumption : A one loss SEC Champ will always to to the Playoff because SEC Schools always get the nod.

Why do you think that is? If you can reasonably explain the assumption, I will bow to your incredible intelligence. (Hint, just because isn't a reason nor is it intelligent, also answering with a question is just as stupid)

Explain how getting dominated by UF, Bama and UGA every year helps us.

Thanks.

Again. How does Bama, UGA and UF dominating us every year help us?
So they should get worse so we can beat them? I bet your sister beat the crap out of you didn't she?

And you are still to chickensh!t to answee the question.

Ya still can't answer the question can you.
My question still hasn't been answered. The SEC dominance started in 2007 and everyone says how much that has helped Tennessee yet noone can either say how or show the first fact that supports that.

The 90's was a weak SEC and Tennessee dominated. I'll take that any day. Sorry you didn't seem to enjoy it.

Oh I enjoyed the 90s too.

Your question has been answered several times, you just didn’t care for the answer.

Right, it wasxanswered with a strong SEC helps everyone....yet here Tennessee is with another losing record and will struggle to win 7 games this year.

I think the general consensus has been (for quite a while now) that yes, everyone hates our big 3. If others winning helps us, great , so be it.
It's absolutely asinine to pull for these teams that we are trying to go head-to-head with in recruiting. Every time they win, it puts more bullets in their chamber (against us)
I think there are several questions I'd pose, although we all know the answers.

1) When we were whipping everyone's ass, did it really matter to you how the others did? (Hell no)

2) So do you really think it matters to GA and Bama how we do? (Hell no)

3) I wonder if fans of the Big 10 or ACC or whatever conference, pull for their teams in bowl season? (Guarantee OSU doesn't pull for Michigan and vice versa)

Bottom line, the old "Lions don't lose sleep over the opinion of sheep" is applicable here. We have been sheep in the conference for over a decade now, so a vocal part of the fan base, feels better about themselves when they tie their anchor to "the conference"

I say put all your energy, resources, etc, to the betterment of TN, period! Screw the rest for ever and always!

2) So do you really think it matters to GA and Bama how we do? (Hell no) Why do I care what it matters to GA and Bama and FL and USCe and....... They don't determine my enjoyment of the sport. It they determine yours you have issues bigger than being a narrow minded individual.

3) I wonder if fans of the Big 10 or ACC or whatever conference, pull for their teams in bowl season? (Guarantee OSU doesn't pull for Michigan and vice versa) Once again, why do you even care what other fans do or don't do?

I say this is how having a strong conference helps us. When we get back into contention and we are that one loss Conference Champ and the SEC is still killing everyone they can, we will get the nod for the Playoffs. When the SEC falls to the ranks of the ACC - 1 good team a few just mediocre and the rest suck, and then we stay there for a few years, you have to be Clemsonesque to get a nod. If you can't stand GETTING BETTER so we can beat the best, you need to find someone else to pull for. Because wanting everyone else to suck so you don't suck so bad, is, well, rather like most progressives I know today. You can't be good so you want everyone else to be bad.

That attitude and the people that have it are really a bunch of pathetic losers that never expect to get better.

Bigloser, you still haven't answer any of my questions because I don't think you can get rid of your "I suck" mentality long enough to imagine getting good enough to beat teams while they are good, you just want them bad so we might have a chance. Pathetic, simply pathetic.

A strong SEC helps those teams good enough to take advantage of the conference’s reputation.

Tennessee hasn’t been good enough to take advantage recently.

One would think you’d want your team to raise its level of play to take advantage.

Hoping the rest of the SEC sinks to your level is weak sauce. That thought never entered my mind during either of our 4-win seasons in 2013 or 2017.

I pretty much pull for the SEC in football, except for UGA, Florida, Bama, and Vandy. I vacillate in my hatred for those 4. Currently I hate all 4 of those about equally on par with Satan and beets, so when they play each other I just don't watch.

It wasn't all that bad. You seem to feel that the Vols beat the tar out of everyone and it was a watered-down conference.

Your dominance over Alabama in the 90s was 5-4-1.
Florida cleaned up on SEC titles with 5, Vols 3 and Bama had 2.
The Vols won one NC in the 90s, Bama won one and Florida won one.
Head to head between Florida and Tenn in the 90s, Gators7-3.

All and all I would say it was Spurriers decade.

Good post, and it proves the SEC wasn’t as “weak” in the 90s as some thought.

The SEC had three schools win national titles in the 90s. ACC had two (more like 1.5) with Georgia Tech and FSU.

The SEC had four schools win national titles in the 2000s. The Big 12 had two with Texas and Oklahoma.

ACC had two schools winning NCs in the 2010s, and the SEC has one (Alabama), with two other SEC schools making the title game (UGA and Auburn).

The SEC isn’t getting weaker any time soon.

So are you saying if the SEC was weak and UF went undefeated and won the National Championship you wouldn't enjoy it because Tennessee and UGA sucked?

The point is that some years might be like that, but it's the exception and not the rule. Most of the time the SEC is a blood bath.

Bama might be looked by others as a dominating team in the SEC in the last 10 years or so, but nothing about the SEC has been water downed. LSU (2007, 2011), Florida (2008-09), Auburn, (2010), Georgia (2012 2017-18).

No cakewalks in this league, as a rule. You earn what you get here.
