Why would the players go on strike though?

I mean other than "I want my piece of the pie" I still have not heard a real valid reason the NCAA and/or schools should pay players. NFL players make next to nothing from merchandise sales when everyone involved gets their cut.

Free medical insurance, free room & board, free degree, free clothing, free training, free exposure...my biggest gripe with things is that if a player makes an appearance or signs something they can't get paid which to me is just wrong.
The part on them not being able to profit off their image is exactly why they should go on strike. Oh and the NCAA did this so it tells you all you need to know about how they view these kids

The NCAA Says Student-Athletes Shouldn’t Be Paid Because the 13th Amendment Allows Unpaid Prison Labor

I know a college coach who did an undergrad research paper on paying college athletes. You could do it, but about 90% of all athletic dept. would have to shut down in all divisions of NCAA. Only a select few schools could even start doing it.

If you pay one athlete, then you have to pay them all. Male and female

Very little info leaks, CJP runs a very tight ship.

He has actually mentioned this in staff meetings.

The reason why some kids are just now popping up on Volnation radar.

He gives crumbs to the media, cause he knows that’s their livelihood, but other than that he doesn’t want anyone to know who they are going after.

Negative recruiting is BIG business.

Excellent post. This staff takes "need to know" very seriously; so does Fulmer and so does the athletic committee. Talking about team business outside is against team rules. Players face suspension for violations. The staff has talked to players' parents about it. Zero tolerance. Anybody who has friends in the AD and/or is friends with players' families has gotten the word. The coaches and their families say little. Fulmer parses every word. And he's talked to donors about it.

Most of the media info comes from recruits, their families and friends and a few parents that talk off the record. The closer someone is to the program, the less they talk. And when someone inside the program talks to someone outside, that person is generally trusted enough to keep quiet. That's how the HC and the AD want it and most are respectful enough to abide by their wishes for the good of the program.

What bothers me is that you completely avoided the things I mentioned. Student athletes especially those in the major money making sports (Football & Men's Basketball) are supplied with a lot of goods & services that aren't exactly free, yet no one seems to ever acknowledge these things when discussing them not getting paid. That is very much a source of payment, insurance premiums paid by the university, room, board, food, clothing, stipends, training, gym access, tutors, tuition, books, travel...all those things cost money and are given to these players freely for their service. But it's forgotten whenever this argument comes up "pay the athletes"

I agree pay them! And charge them for all these services they originally received freely.

Another big reason to want King is because the Aggies board puts on the best shows. They are some funny people and will immediately start dragging each other through mud and go full rambo on any and all mods. It's amazing.

Trying to protect the "student" portion of "student-athlete".

Many will gripe over the NCAA, while simultaneously griping over free agency, professionalism in college sports, etc.

I hear Trump is on his way to Japan and I'm contemplating ditching the kids and going to get hibachi... 🤔 Skramp(shrimp/seafood) sauce is bauce

Yess hibachi food truck opens in 1h 15m beside me. Counting down the minutes. Wife be like, "what about your diet?" Men's Gold Cup is my excuse this time. As long as there are sports, there are excuses.

The access to tutors on all levels of NCAA sports makes it almost impossible for players to fail in school. I am not talking about cheating. Schools invest millions to insure athletes stay in school and graduate. Many are leaving with multiple degrees. All free

When you are the little brother in your own state, along with not winning anything of significance in forever, you develop a "thing" of beating yourself up 😁
