Pruitt a few months ago that he wanted 10 but expects 8.
I am expecting 10, but then again, I always expect to win. We are severely outmatched, talent wise, by UGA and Bama. Every other game is winnable in my mind. If we can play out of our minds against UGA, we may be able to pull a win out of our ass.

I really like that Fulmer is holding this staff accountable for good recruiting. There was a quote he said about last year's recruiting - we had 5 guys that everyone in the country wanted and now we need to get over 10.

I think we're doing that.
we're in very good shape with high profile guys like Washington, Sewell, etc.

I think Pruitt finally has had enough time to get a true feel of the talent level he has and how many guys have bought in with each position group to know where he stands and what he needs to fix/upgrade...
With this latest commit in the secondary, we are starting to shape up back there, we now need to work on upgrading the D line, add another LB, continue work on the O line, and add at least one to two more WR's with speed and we will start to scare some people.
Need Solomon on the D line this fall in the worst way and really need Trey on the O line... Gibbs would be a bonus.

I think Pruitt was shocked at the lack of give-a-dam at the end of last season.
Yep, the young kids never quit but they had never played in a long SEC schedule either. They didn't know what to expect. The upperclassmen let the team down and didn't teach the youngsters how to keep pushing and win and in my opinion... The majority of them did the exact same thing with BJ but he never held them accountable. Pruitt will and I cant wait for this team to be all of this coaching staff guys.

Pruitt expects to win them all.

I think they feel really good.

However, I think they felt better than the results bore out last year as well.
I got the feeling last year that although Pruitt expects to win and thought he could get more out of the players, he was shocked at the shape the players were in both mentally and physically. He certainly did not think coming to Tennessee that players would have to continue the workout schedule during the season.

When he first got the job, absolutely.

But after spring practice there were no surprises.

Since CJP has restocked the roster with two classes, I doubt there are many attitude issues left on the team that will actually see the field. Folks - forget last season. Things have changed in several important ways. The past is not necessarily a good predictor of future performance. This team will be tough as nails the second half of the season.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

That's what I am expecting, and I think the coaches are also.

it's june. but if you plug in the majority of the guys we're currently in good with, or have some reasonable expectation of getting (Ox, Jarrett, Baron, Morris, ojulari, king, grimes, Hardy, Hodge, Leonard, thomas, Sewell......) it would put us with 23 commits and a score of 289.10, which as of today would be good for #3....with a .9203 average. that's with the LS. w/out it it's .9279....

it's june. this isn't a prediction. but i will say i think this class does still have the potential we all thought it did......

by comparison:
clemson has 18 commits, #1 and .94 average. not sure anyone is catching that.
Bama has 21 committs, #2 and a .93 average
LSU has 20 commits, #3, and a .92 ave
UGA has 14 commits, #4, and a .92 ave
ND has 14 commits, #5 and a .91 ave

bottom line, there's a copule in that top 5 that have most of the hay in the barn....if things go like we hope, this could definitley be a top 5 class before all is said and done. additionally, this is the type of class this staff has us competing for. not bad for a program that's won only 9 games in 2 years.

i don't know that we get all these guys, but this is the level they're going for and competing well at.

and we're going to get more than a couple of those guys in that list above.

siap yesterday, i'm not worried about this class at all.
