Anyone ranked as high as James was should be counted on the se ond they walk on campus. Too early to be expecting 17 ppg and 8 apg, but he should be counted on to contribute, and probably start by midseason. First man off the bench in the guard rotation at the very least.James is a 5 star, but that's not a guarantee of immediate success. We've had some highly ranked kids come through this program who didn't hit the court on fire that freshman year. A bit premature to be counting on him. Add Turner and Bowden who, yes, are seasoned and need to be leaders this season, but outside of those two, I'm not seeing a lot to be excited about. Pons? Kent? Johnson? Surely you aren't counting on Gaines and Pember. They're a season or two away I suspect. UK's roster is far more "SEC ready" than UT. No way anyone could reasonably expect us to simply "reload" and contend in the east again this season as things currently stand.
How many 5 stars have we had. Hopson produced 9 points in his freshman season, Harris 15. The only underachiever I can think of is Hubbs.Anyone ranked as high as James was should be counted on the se ond they walk on campus. It does sound like that, but Goodman is really dialed in and connected on the CBB scene, so who knows. This is the kind of tweet from someone who knows absolutely nothing about this situation but is trying to fish for mentions and retweets from fans of every school
I'd agree and I think Barnes' coaching flaws aren't recognized until game day. His history seems to support a need for a change in his philosophy.
