And Netflix is back at $370.
Bought shares of NetFlix at $80 a few years back. Gave a stop order at $370. The shares continued to rocket upwards. Do not know how high the stock went. The announcement from GOOGLE that they were going to start streaming movies thought it was going to impact NetFlix. It didn’t..... at least not initially.

Subban isn’t a great player anymore. Anyone that watched every night could tell that.

Subban isn’t the same player he was when he came over, there’s truth in that obviously. He’s had some injuries and he’s getting into his 30s. His level dropped from elite status to just great, but anybody that watched every night knew he is still a great player and still a top defenseman in the league. That’s just a fact. I don’t hate this move if it opens up the cap for a guy like Duchene. But the return from the trade was awful. True salary dump.

Subban getting traded. Thoughts?

First of all, Preds GM David Poile is one of the best in the business.

Aside from that, I think they feel like Dante Fabbro is ready to step into the top 4 without missing a beat. He came in and played very well down the stretch last year and has an entry level contract. There have also been rumors for while now that Subban has worn out his welcome in Nashville. Not sure what it is about him, but the same thing happened with him in Montreal. I also doubt there was a very high demand for him considering his age and current contract.

Lastly, as others have said, this frees up a lot of cap space to give Josi a big deal and potentially go after an impact free agent.

Edit: After a little research on what the Preds got in return, I don’t think it’s a bad deal. They get two second round draft picks and two young defensemen. One of those defensemen looks like a solid role player, and the other was one of the top college players in the country this past season.

Side note: looks like they’re shopping Turris around as well. Poile has coveted Matt Duschense for years; I think he’s setting the roster up to make a serious move there.

I think with everyone streaming now, Disney, Amazon.... It hasn't killed them but it has definitely stifled it's growth. You probably got out at the right time. It topped $400 briefly but then fell back quite a bit. It's gradually working its way back.

Think ill sell right before the evil empire launches.

That’s true and we’ve been lucky to have GMDP since the inception of this franchise.

But his trades lately have had poor results. It’s hard for me to see the upside here, unless they already have a hush hush deal with Duchene.

He wasn’t even in the top 20 for the Norris. He’s not great anymore. He’s good. Offensively he has a great shot. He’s incredibly slow. He’s meh physically. He loses forwards all the time. He turns the puck over at an enormous rate. He was our fourth best defenseman last year and Ryan Ellis had a bad year. He’s not even close to great anymore and likely won’t ever be again. I still agree we could have gotten more and it was a pure salary dump, but you’re assertion that he is great is wrong.

Subban is also the odd man out in our D core with the expansion draft coming next year. If he returns to form he would definitely be taken and we would gain nothing. If age continues to take its toll and declines more he probably because even harder to move and we might have to give up picks up to get someone to take him.
