A good chunk of the front-runners in the Democratic Primary are polling ahead of Trump in a general election match-up. Too early for polls to mean much, but I think that is why there are so many Dem candidates. Even if they don't make it past the summer or fall, they still get their name out there for the future.I think if anything Trump has emboldened these goobs that anyone could be the nominee.

To the last, that's not actually something to run on. It leaves a real big "and then", ok you got elected now what are you going to do? Without a real plan they are dogs chasing cars. That would be conventional wisdom, but this isn't a conventional presidency. In spite of the strength of the economy, Trump's Real Clear Politics Average Approval Rating has still never been above the 46.2% number that he was elected with (it is currently at 43.9% - Trump has a very low ceiling.). That indicates that he is either not getting any credit for the strength of the economy, or his negatives involving his character and personality are currently overriding how people feel about the economy. Also, I disagree that the Democrats are divided... they are unified in their sentiment that the most important issue they face in 2020, and how they should vote, revolves around defeating Donald Trump.

Also I tend to agree that if Trump wasnt so Trump he could win in a landslide, but he stays in his own way.
Historically the middle of this country tend to go towards the incumbent.
I hope we dont get 2 years of excuses this time when you get shocked by the results.Historically, yes, but there is definitely a greater sense of shame regarding Trump than I’ve seen before. That’s why his approval rating seems stuck. I’d say he has a 50/50 shot to win if the economy remains strong. If it falters, he’s getting smoked.
I can't imagine waiting in line 40 hours for anything, frankly.
