Not that it matters.. but. Tom Bell and his wife/Associate Geography Prof/Ex student Peggy Gripshover moved to Bowling Green, KY several years ago.

Fun story. (Disclaimer: I have a couple degrees from UT Geography.) Tom Bell used to include a Weezer-related question on his tests. My buddy and house mate didn't know the connection and in response to the Weezer test question answered simply, "Weezer sucks." Ha. Can't remember the outcome, or if i ever knew. I know that the Pinkerton album was awesome. I know I saw Brian Bell in Burchfiel during a football game. I know i didnt really care for Tom Bell that much. One of the best classes i took at UT was Ronald Foresta's Economic Geography class. The whole classroom clapped at the end of his final presentation.

I know no one asked but for my own sake:
It wasn't supposed to be like this. X amount in savings, X for extra and X in debt. Still shocked what medical can go through in such a short amount of time with "good" insurance.

My wife's career at one employer for 15 years, pay based on time with the company and that company goes into a tailspin after 40 years. New career but at around 65% of her previous pay.

You guys followed me through this. We cut all the expenses, sold things and slowly got some of the medical paid off, reaching a point of being "ok". But I was declining fast. I'm finally going the other direction by eating small bites every hour and constant rest. Aka, mandatory short term disability. Which mine pays 60% of your normal income.
"Ok" quickly became 'surviving' again and surviving doesn't include trips, hotels and meals for Charleston SC.

I just want to get back or at least as close as I can come. I have PayPal etc.. just trying to find anyway I can to not ask. Loan makers don't look favorably at small temp disability checks as proof of income. We're still trying this morning and if we should pull it off, just want you guys to know that even if I don't end up accepting a penny, the offers will never be forgotten.

Truly humbled and thankful, Joseph.

You’re an inspiration, man. Prayers for you that this procedure works, so that you can have some sense of normalcy in life, and be able to work to support your family.

Hey @InVOLuntary, when you organize to meet J and get him some money, count me in. I don’t do PayPal, however, you can text me your address, and I’ll mail you a check. Or I can text you when you get back from vacation, and I can send money to your account via Zelle.

I got everyone else’s depth chart from the website Our Lads. They try to keep updated projected depth charts for all college football teams. Of course depth charts are very fluid but anyway this is a snap shot comparison of us and our SEC opponents for this year using their depth charts, all in one graphic. One note, much of Georgia’s elite defensive talent is in their incoming freshman class and some are projected to be in their 2-deep. The same can be said about us, only more-so. jmo.

Well, I had something work related to attend at Disney, so we went several days early and took the kids. We had always kind-of felt like our kids weren't super into Disney, and also aren't what you would call "troopers", and we definitely knew that we had no interest. But, we thought that we might as well take the opportunity so that it's one less thing our kids can use to blame us for why their lives are unfulfilled.

Our hunches were correct. For the most part, we hated it. And not necessarily for the reasons we thought we would hate it. (FYI...I've heard people say this and assumed they were just being funny, but it actually did smell like hot dog water down there)

I was astounded at how poor the service was. You hear so much about how spectacular customer service is at Disney. However, with very few exceptions, the "cast members" we encountered were indifferent at best...grouchy at worst. And I couldn't believe how poor some of them were at their jobs. We stopped to grab some waters at one of the street-vendor-esque carts in Animal Kingdom. I was third in line and the two people in front of me ordered a beverage and an ice cream. I was in the line for at least 10 minutes. The guy operating the thing was doing his best impression of the character "Flash" from Zootopia. And whether you are in the parks, or at a Disney hotel, you will not do anything the way you want to do it...you will do it the way they tell you to do it. And, even then, it is inconsistent (on two of the days we could wait in a pool area near the end of the water slide for our son to come down the slide...on another day, we were commanded to clear that area and wait in another section).

We didn't have one meal on Disney property that didn't absolutely suck.

We knew that the hotel room was going to be cramped with four people (we stayed at the Yacht Club), but it was downright miserable. The mattress was very uncomfortable, and the water pressure was anemic.

It took us five trips to guest services for our magic bands to work consistently. The blamed it on my using the iPhone app to unlock my door...which I did because the magic band didn't work.

For everything we hated about it, though, the Happily Ever After show at Magic Kingdom made the entire trip worth it. It was one of the most spectacular things I've ever seen.

So, take Chuckie's advice: If you are going to be in or around Orlando, take the opportunity to see the show at Magic Kingdom...and skip everything else.

PS...be sure to have cash on you if you take the Florida Turnpike. They don't take cards and give you an "insufficient funds" notice to pay the toll when you get home. In one of the most Florida things I've ever experienced, there is no way to pay the toll online. I'm going to have to mail two separate checks...one for $1 and another for $3.25 to satisfy my obligations. If someone has an "in" with the big man (Coach Pruitt), please relay all of this to him and let him know I'd appreciate it if they'd beat the dog piss out of the Gators this year.

tl;dr - Be sure to see the end of day show at Magic Kingdom before you die...other than that, stay the hell out of Florida -- especially Orlando.

My first trip was back in December with my wife and son for his 5th birthday. I totally expected it to be terrible with crowds, long lines, overpriced everything but it was really great. The difference was probably that we used an agent to book it well in advance for us including all lunches, dinners, and special shows.

I can definitely see how it could be a bad experience though. Eating cart food or from those quick restaurants would be pretty frustrating. I missed out on the giant turkey leg, though.

One thing about healing/successful procedure is the mental side. You should be totally focused on getting better with little distractions. Money/finances shouldn't be a factor. That's where we can help. Please, take that item out of the equation. It's really an insignificant amount of money when spread across several people.

FWIW my son went to dabo’s Football camp this last weekend. He spent a ton of time around the kids. Was as genuine and magnetic a person I have seen from afar in some time

I don’t see Clemson going anywhere while he’s there.

I had always thought his was an act and that he wasn’t smart enough to run either side of the ball and be an elite coach. My opinion of him did a complete 180. He has the “it” factor to the Max.

Thanks

Now I’m just waiting for someone to tell me The Tree of Life is growing in Saban’a backyard and he will live and coach forever

Well, I was a business major and didn’t know one professor from another. I am guessing it fulfilled a requirement my junior year, but I thought the topic was pretty cool.

Sure! I have struggled with chronic depression and and anxiety since middle school. Lexapro has helped me tons, but generally I'm a pessimist (shocking right). I have pretty much always been a loner and found it hard to envision a happy future for myself. Obviously that's not to say I haven't had some really great fun! In real life I try to fake a smile and go on with my life as best I can.

It's amazing what people leave middle school with.

I always played sports / had friends, but starting in college, I'd get these really dark, overwhelming thoughts related to failure and disappointment.

They left for the most part in my late 20's. Hunting and fly-fishing had been my primary hobbies since I was a kid, but picking up cooking (something I wasn't naturally good at) and seeing a little bit of progress when I hit the kitchen, has really helped me get out of my head.

I don’t view this as a “hand out”.

I view as a group of people who want to do something for someone. It was our idea. He never asked.

Charger on his birthday and Christmas “no gifts please” 😂

Stop being a lil bish and let your friends (aka VolNation) toss some coin at you! I can skip a few trips to the Weigel's for a week or two, you're not asking one person for thousands (or even hundreds) of dollars, you're asking hundreds of people for anything they want or are willing to give.

And know this my only stipulation is that you don't pay it back, not to me at least. I'd much rather you get your health back and help out the next person down the road. Pay it Forward. Even if it's just taking that wife of yours out for a meal one night.

😂😂😂
I actually do this.
Always tell my wife that I just want to go out to eat for b-day/father's day but it's so she doesn't need to cook haha.
