Last year before the WVU game I did a talent and age comparison (which I posted somewhere back in this thread) between the starters for our two teams. On average we were 19 years old (sophomores) on offense and 20 years old (juniors) on defense. I went through the numbers for this year for what could be our 2-deep and we average out to juniors on offense with a talent average of 0.9380 and juniors on defense with a talent average of 0.9285. The only freshmen I have starting are Morris, Wright, and McCollough. For the 2nd team offense we average out to sophomores on offense with a talent average of 0.8891 and sophomores on defense as well with a talent average of 0.9093.

For the starters combined on both sides of the ball we have an average age around 20.23 (juniors) and a talent average of 0.9332. Our 2nd team averages to 19.23 years old (sophomores) with a talent average of 0.8992. I’m expecting the 2020 class will boost our talent averages for next year such that both units, 1st and 2nd team, on both sides of the ball are solidly in blue chip territory, and especially with the 2nd team (depth). jmo.

I think unless you’re like a Vanderbilt, or Kentucky, or Missouri, with a lot of seniors and 5th year seniors, we’re probably not ever going to get above 21 years old for an average age and given class size limitations, depth is almost always going to be one year younger. With the way we’re progressing, we should beat teams like those this year and next year we should pull away from them due to our improving talent advantage. jmo.

For reference, based on the projected starters for Florida this year, their offense has an average age of 20.91 with a talent average of 0.9153. Their starters on defense average 20.45 years old with a talent average of 0.8862. Overall, their starters average 20.68 in years and 0.9007 in talent. They have a slight age advantage (5.4 months on average) and we have, on paper, a slight talent advantage. If we can beat Florida this year, I think many would agree the possibility of us winning 10 games in the regular season improves significantly. jmo.

If you get too close to a black hole, time will significantly speed up outside of your scope (back on earth) and you will come back to earth to visit your daughter and she will be lying in a bed dying and look like your grandmother, but you will have not aged at all.
Exactly.

There’s a good chance you’ll befriend a robot called TARS and fist fight Matt Damon on Hoth.

For as much crap as people give him, Simonton is the only VQ guy worth a shat IMO. Which isn't to say Price and Hubbs aren't nice guys - they just very rarely say anything or provide any real info. Most of their responses to questions sound like answers that a lot of posters on here who follow recruiting could come up with.

Also, IMO VQ would be better served to crap the Monday Night Chat session, and just solicit questions throughout the week, and then answer the best ones. Having to scroll through 7 pages of dumb questions like what kind of ninja turtle would you be, or multiple mods answering the same question with basically the same answer, etc.

This from Simonton I thought was interesting, from a current roster perspective:

I will say I was told just today that (Jacob) Warren is up to close to 250 pounds. Still think he's at least a year away from contributing though. Labruzza is finally healthy and has had a strong offseason. Sham and Jackson are two guys are being counted on to contribute in 2109. I'm just as curious about Allen's offseaon/development. Fant is sticking at tight end/H-back. Can he find a real role though?

Tatum is holding the weight. Needs to show more agility/lateral movement to play with it though. Johnson will compete for a starting job this fall.

Henry came in a bit heavy but is expected to drop weight quickly.

I like Jacob Warren as an athlete and he looked like he could've been a match up problem for some guys, but he came in rail thin - want to say 210? To hear he's put on that much weight....with his decent speed, wingspan and hands, he could turn into something.

Also would be nice to get something out of Labruzza.

I personally just think Simonton has a better eye, and is more knowledgeable about Football in general than Hubbs or AP. AP is good at getting in with some of the recruits (especially instate and GA)... Hubbs doesn't offer much.

Theres a Dollar Tree, Dollar General (who I work for in Goodlettsville) Family Dollar, CVS & Food City in town not sure if they have any openings full time? If you find anything at DG Ill do what I can. I imagine theyll transfer yall to the other WMSCs nearby.
I was offered a store manager position at DG years ago, may look I into that again. Thanks IV.

Where is the closet Wal Mart still open? Are they able to absorb any extra employees? Ive never heard of a Wal Mart closing. Thats like a McDonalds closing. Crazy.
The one they are talking about transferring me to is 35 minutes away, but our position and pay are not protected. Walmart is the only big box store in the area, and it would be hard going from what I do now to a cashier for instance. There's supposed to be a meeting later in the week to see what kind of position we'll be offered.

I was reading an article from the senior editor at SDS on one area of concern that could keep 4 SEC East contenders from making Atlanta this year. He lists Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and Missouri as his contenders and said that’s how he plans to vote his ballot at SEC media days next month.

Tennessee: Jarrett Guarantano is who I think he is
This is becoming more quarterback heavy than I anticipated, but there’s a reason it’s the most important position. Now, more than ever.

I think Tennessee’s offensive and defensive lines will be substantially better in Year 2 under Jeremy Pruitt. The defense, as a whole, will take another step forward. He has several playmakers returning and added a few more in this class.

Outside of the annual disaster of having to play Alabama, the schedule is somewhat manageable. The 4-game stretch against Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State and Alabama is brutal, but at least the Vols will have a veteran QB leading the way.

The question is: Can Guarantano finally outplay the other QBs in his way? I’m not sold on that. There are others who think he is better than Franks. There are some who still believe he has draftable talent.

Coaches know better than all, and the one thing I keep coming back to is: They haven’t fully turned it over to him. Injuries have played a part, certainly, but he has attempted more than 30 passes in a game just twice in his career.

He averaged just 20.5 passes per game last season, last among the SEC’s 14 starters.

Is he capable of playing 8 or 9 games like he did against Auburn? If so, Tennessee is a threat to stir things up in the East. If not, they’re still a quarterback away from being back.

JG last year was #1 in the conference in fewest interceptions thrown, #6 in yards/attempt, #7 in completion percentage, #8 in passer rating, #11 in yards/game, #12 in Touchdowns thrown, and #14 in attempts per game.

Do we expect the coaches to allow the number of attempts/game to increase very much this year, if at all? I mean it seems pointless for Chaney to be saying the wide receiver corp is perhaps the strongest position group on our team and then not plan to use it accordingly. Right?

The thinking in the early phase of spring practice this year was that with the offense Chaney is installing he's taking the "kid gloves" off of Guarantano. I don't know how you read this but to me it says "buy your tickets now, we're going to Atlanta." jmo.

Has to be done. We're not taking that next step until the gloves are off. Interceptions will rise but so will scoring.
Chaney can gameplan around strengths and weaknesses but we have to get more out of the passing game.

The two strongest things in Chaney's resume: Jon Cromptom and Nathan Peterman.

I think we'll still be a run-first offense, but Chaney will use the RBs more in the passing game like he did at UGA. Chandler and Gray can catch out of the backfield and line up in the slot, too. Probably use DWA more over the middle and find more ways to use JJ. Chaney has a lot of options and a lot of pieces to work with-- if we see improvement from the QBs, the offense could really click.

I think the offense will surprise most people.
