The Atlanta Braves

It makes no sense for the Braves to be IN on Kuechel and OUT on Kimbrel.
Eh... Not really. Closer is the most overrated position in baseball. I'd love to have Kimbrel, but I think thats as much psychological as anything else. People just want to know the their team acknowledges is weaknesses.

That’s fine. But there’s a hole at the closer position (or good bullpen arm in general) and we’ve got like 8 starters who deserve innings.

8 starters that deserve innings and about 3 that have proven anything. It's basically Soroka, Fried, Teheran, hold your breath. Need somebody else to throw some competitive innings.

Fried trending scary direction

Yep... I almost referenced that too. The point is, you don't want to lean on more than 1 or 2 young guys at a time. It takes awhile for them to find consistency.

Gausman being noncompetitive has really hurt.

Sounds like something some people said all offseason

Bowman isn’t shooting down Keuchel... even RT’d Braves as front runner. Maybe FO is trying to say hey look we tried when we don’t get him or........

Could you imagine if he had signed and everything stayed the same what this rotation would have looked like?

Greg Maddux
Randy Johnson
Tom Glavine
John Smoltz
Steve Avery

.

Good Lord.

One of the funniest things I've ever heard anybody say about sports is the reason the Braves only won 1 WS with their HoF rotation is because they had a rotation "built for a 162 game season, not necessarily the playoffs."

Throwing Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz (and Avery, when healthy) at an opponent in a 5 or 7 game series is built for 162 games? If anything, the Braves had a team (in particular a starting rotation) built for the playoffs. Perhaps not the bullpen (which was the downfall sometimes), but definitely everything else.

I wouldn't mind Keuchel because two important starters (Soroka and Fried) aren't used to full season major league ball.
