This is the latest entry in Cromptons diary regarding Fulmer and the current qb situation, I am so sick of his crap, I swear why was this poor excuse of a qb even recruited.

Don't judge Coach Fulmer on this slow start

Oct. 2, 2008

BY Jonathan Crompton, For SN Today

It's tough being where we're at. That's why we have to come together as a team and overcome this start.

Personally, I know I have to play better in order to give us a chance to win. It's frustrating because I have been practicing really well, but that hasn't translated to the games. There are several different aspects I need to improve on, but like I said, I just have to do a better job to give our team a better shot.

The quarterback competition this week, that's part of it. It's something I have to do for the team right now. Coach Dave Clawson, our offensive coordinator, talked to me in his office about it. He just told me, `Hey, this is something we have to do.' And I understand, because I haven't been playing up to my ability.

My family and friends have been doing a really good job supporting me through this, and they always will. I'm focused on keeping our guys up, too. That's part of quarterbacking. You have to be a leader. You have to make sure you have your head up no matter what.

Right now, my goal is to go out there and work hard, play better and player smarter. That's what Nick (Stephens) and I both are doing, just going out there every day to get better.

There's been some negative talk in the media about coach Phillip Fulmer and our performance, but for all that guys that are here, for the guys in the locker room, he is Tennessee football. That's all we've known growing up, is Coach Fulmer. He built the program to what we know it, so people shouldn't judge him on our 1-3 start.

We're just trying to stay together as a team. We're not trying to point fingers at anybody. We win as a team and we lose as a team. Everybody knows that last year we started out slow, and we ended up in the SEC championship game. This year, we're off to a slow start, but we can still end up in the championship game if we put our minds to it.

Nothing against Jon; I have socks older than him.

I'm also wiser than him.

What happened last year was last year, and that in itself was an anomaly.

If UT finishes 6-6 this year, with Crompton under center, it will be the equal of last year. No kidding.

go vls.

I think I can, I think I can. :banghead2:

We all know he's playing bad...but should he really say "we're doomed! stop coming to the games!"

If he was asked to do this at the beginning of the season, and nobody said, "We no longer want you to do this," then yes, he should.

I wonder if this boy knows that sometimes saying nothing, is the best approach to a situation.

His situation.... is definitely one where you should stfu.

What does everyone expect him to say? What athlete would have a defeatist attitude or let me rephrase that-Who wants an athlete with a defeatist attitude?

Any one that competes at any level would be saying the same things. Its in their nature to be positive, its what they are taught.

Most people that suck at their own jobs don't even know it, and if they did know it they wouldn't admit it to themselves, or anyone else for that matter.

How in the crap can anyone find fault with those comments? Get off the kid's back.

Now that I think about it I find it absurdly hypocritical that the genius that told us we'd kill Florida and beat Auburn is calling Crompton "a poor excuse of a qb" because he refuses to believe the season is completely lost at this point.

There is a very solid line between being positive and having a great outlook on the future, and just being absurdly naive, arrogant, dull, what ever you'd like to call it.

Crompton crossed over that line a while ago with his football family comments.

Like my first post in this thread, there are times when silence speaks for itself. Instead of blogging about how you're going to do better, spend the time you did on your blog, and study the playbook that has obviously been dumbed down for you. Actions speak louder than words, and at this point JC's actions on the field, in 4 games I might add, has been pathetic to say the least.

I imagine that blog took him all of five minutes to write. He admitted he's played poorly. What more do you want? The football family comments were taken out of context by people that want to vilify him.

I know he has to have the outlook of ''we played bad last year and made to the SECCG, and we can still do it this year'', but I'm sick of hearing that. Why can't we just learn to play football and stop worrying about someone beating someone else for us to get into the SECCG. Why can't WE beat those teams so we can get into the SECCG? Again, nothing against him, but we have a crap year and our outlook seems to turn to trying to rear-end our way to the SECCG rather than improving, doing what needs to be done to WIN.

I'll second that. Aside from ending a sentence with "at," I couldn't find anything wrong with it. He is saying positive things, leaning on his friends family, trying to motivate his teammates, and working to get better. What else is there to say or do?

Cromptons blogs or comments are not the problem. I'm sure the kid is trying as hard as he can. With that said, his play has been abysmal. This in spite of the coaches doing everything they know to get him ready to play. I can't believe that an SEC program has no other quarterback that can perform better than what we have seen so far. The problem is that Fulmer does not have the balls to say this is not working and we are going to do something different.

You want to fault his play in the last 4 games? Absolutely, go ahead. You want to fault his attitude and comments over the last 4 weeks? Absolutely, go ahead. But, these comments really dont bring any fault to light. Complete legit comments.

I tell ya what I want. I want him to be benched and let a real QB play .

What does that have to do with him writing this blog? It is obviously something that he and UT agreed to do with the Sporting News prior to the season. I'm sure he doesn't want to participate in it anymore than you want him to, but at this point he is obligated.
