As already noted, Elijah Young has an offer. Most local kids take a lot of unofficial visits to UT; Young doesn't. So he doesn't have the strong relationships other recruits do.

He was a smaller back and the coaches are looking for bigger backs. He's added about 10-12 pounds since last year, so the coaches want to re-evaluate him and check his speed and agility at his new size. He's been asked to workout with the coaches on campus this summer, but hasn't committed to doing that.

He plays multiple positions on offense and defense in HS, but wants to play tailback in college. Pruitt likes versatility and prefers two-way players. The coaches want to move players around and decide where they'll play once they're on the team; if a player is less flexible than others, that could move him down the board.

And Young has said he wants offers from other schools, especially Bama, and plans to take visits this summer. He's considering other schools. UT's considering other RBs. We're probably only taking two RBs and being a hometown kid isn't going to get him that spot.

Was just looking at his profile, Fair also appears to be the one who he was dealing with so that might have changed relationships. 247 has 'em listed at 5'9" and 175...so yeah, hopefully he's closer to 190 and hasn't lost any speed or quickness.

Recruiting is going so shittlily that I’ve fired up the old PS3 for some NCAA 2013 and I’m getting a little too into the recruiting feature in dynasty mode

I’ll have you know I’ve got the #1 ranked OLB with a rating of 80 committed.

Also about to get a stud QB, who’s from Knoxville.... that I’ve created..... and had to put recruiting difficulty on freshman level just to get any traction with. :|
I have hopes that things are about to change coming soon

My bad...didn't realize you have an eye for talent better than Pruitt's. Based on his offer list I don't think the top programs see it either.

He’s been offered by programs that have been more successful than us for the last decade. He’s also the fastest kid in the state. But keep being a blind sheep.

Why is it lazy to want to see him in person at a camp before you offer?

Because we pass out offers like hot cakes. Not every player we’ve offered has been here. Also just bc you hold an offer doesn’t make it a commitable one. It’s more just a respect thing. To show a player that you are legit interested

I think he was around 183 at The Opening, up from 170ish last year. He needs to get bigger and stronger, but college S&C will help that. I think he's dealing with Coach YAC-- not sure how his relationship is with Chaney. Coming around campus and camping would help build those relationships. Hope he does that.

this is exactly the type of kid that will probably have to camp anywhere he gets an offer at a big time p5 school.

he looks very competitive, appears to be pretty elusive, and has really quick feet. vision seems pretty good too. and he can run in the open field....and he can jump....good looking athlete.

but 5'9" is limiting...there's only so much you can add to that frame and keep your athleticism, which is his biggest asset... you don't ignore him though......is he a football player like a kamara, steve smith, drew brees etc...? where size really didn't matter?

well, you bring him to camp so you can find out......if he doesn't come to camp at your school, then you probably know what your chances of getting him were to begin with, regardless of any list that gets tweeted out.

hope he camps here this summer.

It's been reported that we have offered him already so not sure what yer issues are.

247 has Chaney listed as his primary. I think there's a level of "apathy" (maybe not actual apathy though, just fan perception) with his recruitment because he's local and likely has been on campus a few times and spoken with the coaches a lot. He did announce via his Twitter he'll be announcing a top 5 soon. If we make the top 5 then I'd say things will be good.

But to be clear @HankHill he does have an offer and Chaney & YAC both are still recruiting him far as I can tell from the big sites information.

I like him, he's currently a high 3 star composite with a year of ball left. Ran a 4.5 at a camp just a week or two ago as well....that's very fast. And it has a lot of weight since he did it at a camp.

I'd say Chaney is all about having some variety in his backfield. So I could see him being a change of pace and 3rd down pass catching type for sure here. Plus I want all the elite local talent in O&W!

this makes no sense.

he has an offer. he lives down the street. if he wants to to go TN, he has the access and opportunity to make that happen.....not sure what the big deal is here.

We made his top 5-- along with UK, MSU, Mizzou and SCAR.

Pretty sure UT gave Young his first offer a few years ago. It's being honored by the current staff. We're recruiting him. I just don't think he's at the top of our board right now. That could change this summer. If he comes around, camps, builds those relationships and shows speed, strength and versatility. Flexibility would help.

Honestly it's really in his hands at this point. This staff isn't shy about shooting kids straight and until they see you in person it's hard to trust 40 times. He lives right here in Knoxville too, so it really makes doesn't make sense he wouldn't camp here, if we're in his top 5.
