Recruiting is going so shittlily that I’ve fired up the old PS3 for some NCAA 2013 and I’m getting a little too into the recruiting feature in dynasty mode

I’ll have you know I’ve got the #1 ranked OLB with a rating of 80 committed.

Also about to get a stud QB, who’s from Knoxville.... that I’ve created..... and had to put recruiting difficulty on freshman level just to get any traction with. :|

Lol. I admit, you may be the most passionate person that I've seen when it comes to recruiting.
That's just from everything here, I forget that you're also a member on tos.
I can't argue you're dedication 🍻

Simple solution. Camp and earn your scholarship. I’m pretty sure he is way down the board.

That’s a silly and quite honestly lazy way to approach recruiting. Especially when he is legit the fastest kid in the state of Tennessee.

Not to mention when he’s playing at a crappy high school like South Doyle he’s definitely not peaked.

It’s lazy to host and personally evaluate players in person? Better let Saban, Kirby, Muschamp, and a bunch of other coaches know the news

It’s lazy if that’s a stipulation in order to offer a kid. We throw offers out like hot cakes.
Maybe a fourth of them are commutable. Some are offers with the stipulation that you have to camp. A lot are just to see what kind of interest a player has and if any traction can be gained. It would be dumb to not throw out a bunch of offers. Gotta cast a wide net when you’re not winning much

I know this news has already been covered but I thought the last line in Pruitt's remarks was really cool. We need to develop more coaches with Tennessee blood in them. jmo.

Kirkland's situation shouldn't come as a surprise after Pruitt earlier this offseason hinted the linebacker might not play this season due to lingering knee problems that have plagued him the past two years. Earlier this offseason, Kirkland was getting treatment on his knee from renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews, which caused him to sit out spring practice. He completed his undergraduate degree last year and has been pursuing his master's degree.

Pruitt said in Destin that Kirkland will spend the summer in Washington D.C. working on a business internship.

“He has exhausted everything that he can to try to get himself back to where he can physically play,” Pruitt said in Destin. “We all get to this point in time. At some point, they either tell us we’re not good enough anymore, or our body tells us it’s time to stop. Darrin feels like it’s time for him to move on.

"He’s been a great ambassador for us, and if (his business pursuits) don’t work out for him, I told him we’ve got a job for him if he wants to come back."

Pruitt: Two injury-plagued Vols are retiring from football

We have offered the kid. But like the other guy said, he’s down the board.

Elijah Young doesn’t dominate lesser teams. I’ve read several accounts that Suggest he’s inconsistent.

Who cares if he’s the “fastest kid in TN” when you could get better football players elsewhere.

Just a quick update on my grandfather. I went to visit today. Doctors continue to say he should be improving but he's now deteriorated to the point where he cant stand up or even hold a conversation. This isn't the grandfather I knew even a month ago. Hes not eating or drinking almost at all. Every day he loses more of his mind. Watching a tall and large person such as himself shrink up to damn near nothing is heartbreaking. At this rate we will not be able to watch another football game together and that makes me very sad.

Anyway carry on!!!
So very sorry. Please just try to hold onto all the great memories you have of watching the games with him and I hope he does turn the corner and start to improve. Prayers for you and your family.

Not sure "lazy" is the best adjective to describe putting in extra evaluation work.
Wouldn't your method of just saying "he's really fast, let's offer him", be closer to lazy than going through a live checklist?

Sorry for your loss. Also sorry that the last two games you two watched together was seeing your favorite team gaffe away the SECCG on a 4th and 12 fake punt, and then get horse whipped by Texas.

Why is it lazy to want to see him in person at a camp before you offer?

My bad...didn't realize you have an eye for talent better than Pruitt's. Based on his offer list I don't think the top programs see it either.

If you’re not aware of how much he knows about everything, then simply ask him. He’s exceedingly honest about his vast knowledge. 😎

OT: any guys got recommendations for workout boxers?

I generally get cheap compression shorts from TJ Maxx or Marshall’s... generally Layer8

I wear Hylete apparel which is top shelf but really pricey. Most of it I get used on EBay but I do have a $20 off referral code since I am a trainer I can offer you. That said, the one pair of compression shorts I have from them is quite comfortable

Wait, you buy used underwear? 🤣

As already noted, Elijah Young has an offer. Most local kids take a lot of unofficial visits to UT; Young doesn't. So he doesn't have the strong relationships other recruits do.

He was a smaller back and the coaches are looking for bigger backs. He's added about 10-12 pounds since last year, so the coaches want to re-evaluate him and check his speed and agility at his new size. He's been asked to workout with the coaches on campus this summer, but hasn't committed to doing that.

He plays multiple positions on offense and defense in HS, but wants to play tailback in college. Pruitt likes versatility and prefers two-way players. The coaches want to move players around and decide where they'll play once they're on the team; if a player is less flexible than others, that could move him down the board.

And Young has said he wants offers from other schools, especially Bama, and plans to take visits this summer. He's considering other schools. UT's considering other RBs. We're probably only taking two RBs and being a hometown kid isn't going to get him that spot.
