You’re definitely a data hound. In general, did you do a lot of the same type analysis last year? Did it correctly predict our overall performance?

I didn't do the same analysis but I'm always looking for reasons for my unwavering faith in our football team. I haven't yet figure out a way to mathematically predict that our coaches are going to conduct a 90 minute mind-numbing seminar in the middle of the first game of the year or that world war III is going to erupt between the head coach and the offensive coordinator or that a number of players are going to mail it in for a number of the games on the schedule.

I can find all kinds of reasons and data to be pessimistic, even for this year, but I much more enjoy discovering tidbits that suggest it’s not totally insane to hold on to my optimism.

The best way I think to answer your question is with a saying that has been erroneously attributed to Mark Twain for more than a century now, "figures don't lie, but liars figure."

Can’t believe you can remember that, since it was so long ago!
Seems like yesterday.

Somebody just called out Tee in the TBJ thread lol...because we are so often even close to landing both a 5* wr (Rakim) and a high 4* in the same cycle. Not that we landed either, but there will be plenty more. Tee will earn that dough before cycle's end.

The loud entitled minority of this fanbase is something else, isn't it? I picture a bunch of whiny pre-teen girls who demand a pony regardless of the fact that their father just lost his job, is now divorced, and had his life savings wiped out and is now having to rebuild it all. BUT I WANT IT NOW, DADDY! SHEILA HAS A PONY, I WANT ONE TOO!!!!!

Yeah, they're why I preface myself with "I'm not one of THOSE fans" whenever I talk football around new people.

Based on what Pruitt is telling recruits (if we don’t win 8-9 game this year, don’t consider us), I think he expects us to win enough games this year to get a bump recruiting commits later in the year.

In reality it's probably a bunch of old men obsessing over where kids go to college. Some of them probably have pre-teen girls who want a pony. And ironically many of them probably complain that kids these days are entitled and whiny.

All his top recruit lands were from CA, while he was coaching at a 9-11 win a year USC team.

I don’t imagine that’s a hard thing to do - get talented California kids to commit to UT.

He’s not done anything here thus far to indicate what level recruiter he’s going to be.

To be honest, I dont really care about recruiting anymore. With two kids and having to take care of my mother in law since I was 25, i just dont care lol. I stick around for yall. Yall are like the dysfunctional side of the family that I wouldn't trade anything for. The "That's family 🤷🏼‍♂️" type of crew.

Even if I'm always forgotten about in superlatives

...you bastards.

We have room. 😎 Errybody else gonna be cutting some loose to get in on better...not a problem. Go ahead and lose hair, frail ones. I’m chill and enjoying.

You keep stating it over and over, and they still not getting it and not understanding recruiting. I’m starting to believe some of them really believe, all the commitments a school gets, through out the year, much less 9 months out, are actually going to be signed on early signing and February signing. Almost fun watching the hand wringing and foot stomping.

Doesn’t even get the benefit of a recruiting cycle with you, huh? 😉
