Most coaches don’t bench their best guy in OT at any point no matter the fouls and you know that. Especially in a tournament game.
So why didn’t Barnes not put in Grant when Alexander picked up a foul 23 seconds in the OT?
Because the game wasnt dangerously in jeopardy like I said before.
Many coaches wait until inside of 4 minutes
Listen the bottom line is the score was 3-2 without grant and 14-10 with him in OT. With those facts your post are more like a witch hunt that having any kind validity.
It’s okay to admit coaches make mistakes. Nobody’s perfect. I gave you different teams that played their guy to start OT with four fouls. You’re just wrong.
The Vols lost an offensive possession because Grant wasn’t on the floor. Turner missed a 3. He might get a three point play on the possession and change the flow of the game. And Barnes had a chance to put him back in after a foul 23 seconds in.
I just gave you two examples of coaches that played guys to start OT with four fouls this tournament. I bet I could find plenty more. Barnes went against normal thinking and it didn’t work.
Lol. There are countless ways of making the call on how to handle guys in foul trouble. There are never any absolutes and it sure does make you look dumb when you blame that decision when in fact the score was better without grant than with him in OT. Also coupled with the fact his replacement immediately picked up a foul after we lost the tip in which we knew we were going to lose.
I’m sure that had nothing to do with Tennessee fouling late to try and keep the game close.
Either way even after the tip, Barnes should have put Grant in when we were going back on offense and didn’t. We didn’t get a score. It was a mistake.
As someone who watches a lot of NBA games, Grant won't be a lottery pick. He just doesn't have the ceiling that NBA teams look for that early. A guy like Nassir Little from UNC will go ahead of Grant despite Little not being able to hold Grant's jockstrap. However, Grant is a first round lock. If he doesn't go in the first round, he will be the first player in NBA draft history with his season averages in a Power 5 conference to slip out of the first. Expect him to start being looked at around pick 20. Anyone that says he isnt a first rounder doesnt know much about the NBA draft. Grant will be given a first round grade. If he comes back it will be because he wants to, not because he got bad feedback at the draft.
Now Admiral will not be a first round pick. Similar to Grant, he isnt viewed as a high ceiling guy, and isnt a dynamic athlete. He has a role and probably has as good a chance as any 2nd rounder to actually make an NBA roster this season. He has a role as a 3 and D guy and great teammate. Those guys hang around the league for a decade or so, but arent first round picks.
Bone might be a late 2nd round pick, but he is going to need to show out at the NBA combine in a big way. I expect him to be overseas next season regardless of whether he gets drafted in the 2nd or not. I doubt he makes an NBA roster next season.
Didn’t Bonnie Colson go undrafted? Are you expecting Luke Maye to go in the 1st round? As someone who watches a lot of NBA games, Grant won't be a lottery pick. Nobody has averaged over 18 ppg, 7rbs, and 3assists while shooting over 55% in Power 5 and not gotten drafted in the first round. Are you expecting Grant Williams to be the first?Didn’t Bonnie Colson go undrafted? Are you expecting Luke Maye to go in the 1st round?
I’m not sure where GW goes, I’m very curious to find out, my guess is somewhere below 20...I was simply curious as to your criteria and 2 guys that immediately came to mind that fit ppg/rpg.Nobody has averaged over 18 ppg, 7rbs, and 3assists while shooting over 55% in Power 5 and not gotten drafted in the first round. Colson and Luke Maye both fell short in at least 1 category. No I don't think Luke Maye is a first rounder.
