Perhaps, but it doesn't hurt. At the current rate we will finish middle of the SEC and that just secures the status quo imo. Still a lot of time left but a lot of ground to make up.

the status quo? 4 and 5 wins a year? nah. i think we do see that year 2 bump this year. and the status quo moves back up to that 7 or 8 win mark the next couple years, and after that, it's all pruitt personnel. and we see where we are in year 5.....it's a total rebuild, and we'll wind up needing more than a few of those "3* trust the evaluation" type players to be big time contributors. and i think they will.

this is just going to take a little longer than a lot folks originally (and still do in some cases) believed.

What Jake said, the middle hasn't been our status quo. We fell off the cliff and the only way back is a steady climb.
I wish we could jump straight back to the top but that would've had to be done after Dooley. We've been out of that picture too long now. Can't just sell enough recruits on "temporary setback", gonna have to prove it on the field.

The Lost Decade – The scoreboard generally tells the story so I looked at the conference rankings for scoring defenses and scoring offenses just against conference opponents for the past decade to see where everyone ranked year by year. In this lost decade we were 2-21 against teams from the west. We were 23-57 against teams from the east. Our conference record during this lost decade was 25-76.

There are at least a couple positive takeaways from this chart in the form of precedents. Chaney spent two years at Arkansas in 2013 & 14 developing Brandon Allen. He progressed every year so when Enos took over in 2015 and Bielema had accepted that his Big Ten offense wasn’t going to rule the day in the SEC, Enos let loose Allen and Arkansas had the #1 scoring offense in the conference that year. Unfortunately for Arkansas that would be the same year they had the #12 scoring defense in the conference.

In his freshman year at Missouri, Drew Lock failed to complete 50% of his passes. His offense that year fell to dead last in the conference at #14 and even though Mizzou had the 3rd best scoring defense in the conference we beat them that year. The following year Lock improved to just shy of 55% and their offense moved up to the 11th spot in the conference. They scored 37 points on us that year but since their defense had fallen from #3 down to #11 to match their offense we scored 63 on then to notch back to back wins. In his JR and SR years Lock commanded the #3 scoring offense in the conference, putting up a combined 100 points on us for those two games. For his 4 years he ended up on top in scoring against us 145-116. Next time we’re in the right position we need to run up the score on those guys.

In order to be successful in our conference we need to be at least above average on both sides of the line of scrimmage. We have been out of sync for so long it’s basically sapped a lot of our faith in ourselves. Chaney’s last offense here was squandered by the hire of Sunseri and the switch over to a 3-4 defense that year. Based on the tidbits I’ve heard that wasn’t Dooley who made that call. I don’t know for sure but I think it was Hart. I think we have good coaches on both sides of the ball now. We have fairly decent talent on both sides of the ball. Obviously we’re young but returning a lot of production. We’ll still likely be returning a lot of production next year.

I think we’re moving in the right direction and can soon put this lost decade behind us and maybe, to that end, our number one Ace in the hole right now is we have someone at the top of the Athletic Department that not only knows what it’s supposed to look like but is not, in the words of JFK, a prisoner of his own price tag. I don’t know that he is at every practice but from the photos I see it sure looks like it. We have our man on watch now. A good man.

So how many games does this mean we’re likely to win this year? I don’t know. It doesn’t really matter. None of us are going anywhere. We all have had our chances during this lost decade and for the most part we’re all still here. Our faith may have been shaken but we will not surrender. We will not give up. We will fight on. No matter the cost, no matter the pain, we will fight on. #GBO

What's the orange, brown, and pink mean?

Edit: wins/losses/no games. Got it

Be cool if secking could pull up some UGA thread gold on that recruitment. See if it rivals the ridiculousness our star watching generates. 😏
Same as normal, “just” a 3 star, look at his offers (sorry, he did have offers, Pruitt stretching here a bit) but same ole same ole. Matter of fact, already had a TN offer. UGA fans are no different, look at ratings and get their perception SOLELY on that rating. I will see if I can dig up a couple gold nuggets from fans, I’m sure there is some. Here is one from Kipp, goes against what Pruitt says tho Pruitt IS the one who spotted him.

Offers for Baker when he committed - Cincinnati, Clemson, Florida International, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Rutgers, Tennessee, UAB, UCF, Utah, Western Kentucky.
“I just got that offer at 1:30 p.m.,” Baker first told 247Sports.com Wednesday afternoon. “Coach (Mark) Richt personally offered me. He was surprised I committed.”

Now that said, Pruitt gets credit for finding Baker. It’s why I say don’t (always) look at ratings. Three guys in the first round in this draft were 3 stars that Pruitt recruited, Baker, Abram, and Jacobs. Btw, so glad Jacobs got his shot in the league, if you don’t know his story, he’s lived in a car off and on most of his life. A true rags to riches story.
I’ll give you a nugget on another guy Pruitt found, Donte Jackson. UGA was the first to offer when he was a 3 star, think he ended up 5 star on 247 rankings?

I just have to give @ChattaTNVol props for single handedly trying to keep this thread focused on football amidst all the distractions.

@secking Thoughts on Pruitt while at Georgia

Also I see the hint about Tate. Friend sure did seem more excited about the Georgia offer. 🧐
As mentioned, has an eye for talent no doubt. He knows what he wants, I think that’s very important to get guys who fit what you want to do on the field. He had a knack for getting big names to visit but only signed a few. No concerns on X’s and Os, very solid, does a good job teaching, really knows the game. My only concern with him as a HC was his demeanor, not just on the field. He has earned his rep of sometimes being difficult to work with, not always respectful of superiors, all the way up the ladder. Has ticked off many in his wake, boosters, coaches, players, recruits, parents, school admins, etc. BUT, think a little maturity can do wonders in this category.

As a coach, no concerns, he can coach, he can recruit. Concern was off the field in relationships, not so much demeanor on the field (kicking whiteboards lol) but if that improves (and I think it will with experience) then I think his ceiling is really high, I’m a fan of his...

Top 6 when you face the Elite Four:

Raichu: great against the Ice and Water types of Lorelei
Pigeot: clutch against Bruno’s Fighting types
Lapras: great against Bruno’s Rock types and Lance’s Dragons
Charizard: just the all around GOAT and does great against Agatha’s Ghosts
Dragonite: takes awhile to groom but is solid against everyone except the Ice types
Rhydon: weak against Water and Ice but I just love having this defensive beast

Playing the role of homer here but..
His ability to draw so many former coworkers to rejoin him suggests his rough personality is overhyped at least a bit.

5 star #1 QB, DJU, will be announcing for Clemson this Sunday as well.
Insane class
The ONLY positives are
1. Takes away a *little from some of our in conference rivals. (But us also in some cases)

2. If a school like Clemson can make the climb during the Bama reign, it shows it can be done.
