The Atlanta Braves

I guess nobody can answer then...
AFAIK, it started with a journalist posting the picture when something unfortunate/ridiculous would happen to the Braves. Tiger is smiling but appears to be on the verge of tears and that was meant to sum up the current mood. For some reason, it blew up this year on social media and now there are hundreds of variations of it. The Braves subreddit was pumping out dozens every day for a minute there.

It brought all the trolls out unfortunately. You should see some of the comments, don't think people realize it was for a good cause.
I actually like it when this happens on social media. It's good when morons identify themselves without being asked. It saves time for the rest of us.

Like a lot of internet memes it has unclear/absurd origins. Like @BigOrange15 said it all started with this photo of Tiger smiling, but looking like he also might cry, and somebody photoshopped a Braves hat on him. It was supposed to capture the early season mood of the fans, I guess...the bullpen is awful and blowing games, and the front office is seemingly doing nothing to address it, so they are putting a happy face on while simultaneously about to cry.

It took on a life of its own from there...memes of Tiger fist pumping in the outfield while Acuna/Albies jump into each other, Tiger swinging tomahawks, etc. It's absolutely hilarious. These memes also started heating up the week of The Masters, so I'm sure that fueled it as well.
