Autofill game is my faves.

Sometimes you gotta get past the point of the game and get a job somewhere for the next few weeks or you wont be able to find the best taco in the valley topped with a few dudes sweaty biscuits.

wtf...

I’ve never read either of those, ever. I know they’re reputable, but there’s some awful takes that come from ESPN/their employees every day.

PFF stats are very good. Their ratings are stupid. I can show you countless of examples Of things that cannot possibly be rated certain ways.

My personal favorite from shady:

Great read on Nieds.
Rucker: Unique story shapes Vols' rising star Niedermeyer

Except the reality of so many coming after his talents. But that's why it's awesome to have him.
The secret is out regarding Niedermeyer. Multiple power-conference programs have already tried to hire him, and don’t expect that to change. He would be a valuate asset to any program in the country, and Tennessee is fortune to have him.

Niedermeyer never seems comfortable with that conversation, though.

PFF is helpful as a heuristic, but novel statistical metrics rarely tell the full story. Personaly, I like the S&P+ model from Football Outsiders. I believe that they provide the best forward looking projections, since their model measures tempo and explosiveness, but more importantly, it measures the strength of two opponents relative to each other.

Interestingly, S&P+ ranks Tennessee #21. Makes a lot of sense with the amount of returning offensive players.

Interesting info on Trey Smith. That would be awesome if he can actually play football again. Not just for Tennessee, but also for that young man! He's an incredibly talented player, and I really hope he's able to play and go make millions in the NFL.

As for the discussion about improvement this season and how much we'll see in the win column: Here's a list of the biggest win improvements in UT history for some context (since joining SEC in 1933):

+6 - 1988 (5-6) to 1989 (11-1)
+5 - 1937 (6-3-1) to 1938 (11-0)
+4 - 1949 (7-2-1) to 1950 (11-1), 1955 (6-3-1) to 1956 (10-1), 1964 (4-5-1) to 1965 (8-1-2), 2005 (5-6) to 2006 (9-4)
+3 - 1948 (4-4-2) to 1949 (7-2-1), 1980 (5-6) to 1981 (8-4), 1982 (6-5-1) to 1983 (9-3), 1986 (7-5) to 1987 (10-2-1), 1994 (8-4) to 1995 (11-1), 2000 (8-4) to 2001 (11-2)

As you can see, improving the win total by 5 or 6 games has only happened once apiece. But getting 3 or 4 more wins has happened many times (4 times for 4 more wins, 6 times for 3 more wins).

I started school in Knoxville in 1965, so I can lend a little perspective for that year FWIW. In 1964 the defense was awesome, allowing only 121 points in 10 games. Unfortunately the offense was terrible, scoring only 80 points. Three scores that stand out in 1964 were a 3-0 loss to Auburn in Birmingham, a 3-3 tie at LSU, and a 7-0 loss at Vandy. So 4-5-1.

In 1965 UT returned a good defense, plus we had Charley Fulton and then Dewey (Swamp Rat) Warren at QB when CF got injured. UT scored 220 points that year and allowed only 98 points in 11 games. So 8-1-2, including a 7-7 tie at Alabama, a 13-13 tie vs. Auburn, and a win over Tulsa in the Bluebonnet Bowl. Doug Dickey was the head coach both years.

So can Tennessee win 9 games this year (8-4 plus bowl game W)? Maybe, if Chaney can get marked improvement out of JG and the offense, and our defense is decent.

Yep. I think they have a down tick in listeners because of it and Heather ends up being dropped.
She’s really bad. And I’m someone who really wants women to be in these spots and for there to be some sense of equality in the sports media landscape.

Dreading what she’s going to do to my lunch break - because Sports 180 was my favorite show in 990’s lineup.

Same here. looks like I'll be listening to music instead.

You can always listen to the recorded version. It's on their app and website.

Looks like on-field results are gonna play a huge factor for us this year. Obviously not that time yet, so this isn't a "worried" post.

Time of year that I usually make a quick list of blue chips to follow.
My question: Are we currently in the top 5 of enough 'big time' guys to have a list? I'm going through the recruit threads and coming up a little light, relatively.

Also realize our local media is outside trying to look in, Pruitt is stealthy and surprises - combined with the results pending I mentioned earlier. Just usually have a harder time trimming the list down than finding enough to start.
Should I just postpone until we start footballing?

Any help appreciated.
