The 1st estimate given on crowd size was 150,000 but later the estimate was announced at nearing 200,000. I'll bet Lyft and Uber drivers were making bank last night and will the next 2 days as well.

No thanks to that. Being in crowds that big is a nightmare, I don't get the allure at all.

This.

It happens nearly every year to somebody and costs the guys money. I wanted the Titans to take him since he's a freak like Clowney. But could see them taking Simmons or Lawrence to clog the middle and eventually move Casey out to DE where he can still be productive as he ages. When Bradbury for C went to Minnesota the pick before, it was obvious to take Simmons or Sweat in my mind.

Sweat is a difference maker. You have to account for him every play he's on the field. But Simmons is top 5 if he didn't have the ACL. He will have to basically sit out a year, which is OK. Get him fully healthy and developed.

Day 1...I think the Redskins had the best day. Got a QB for the future, but didn't haven't to reach to get him. Got a potentially INSANE edge rusher who is the same size as Clowney and actually ran a faster forty...by over 1 tenth

6'6" 260 and he ran a 4.4 (at the combine)...also had better production per year. I'm floored he went so late.
Agreed did not have to reach but let’s not make Haskins into a world beater just yet please. We will see but good picks for the skins for they are not very good right now

Agree - sort of a head scratcher. Had it been at 24 it would have made sense.
The raiders are so messed up getting offensive players when the will get beat in there 6 division games by 150 points total. There defense is ass and I do not get it but hey it’s gruden

Vrabel is in year 2 next season...I guess we can assume he'll get a year 3 but as a new HC with a brand new OC I'm not sure I'd take the risk of drafting a non-factor in the first round for the upcoming season.

Obviously just a fan without any sort of skin in the game. Let's not forget Mularkey went 9-7 in back to back seasons and was fired after just his 3rd year.

Not sure about Ferrell at this point, has the size and production. Played on a stellar line and lead them in every category. Can't find what his 40 time is so who knows how fast he is, maybe the Raiders know something we don't.

92nd in returning production.

On the other hand, they had 8.7 2nd order wins (+.7). Meaning, based on how they played, they were expected to win a bit more than they actually did. This is predictive of an increase in wins the following year.

We were at 4.3 2nd order wins (-.7), saying we were slightly lucky to reach 5-7 based on how we played. This can be predictive of a decrease in wins the following year.

That said, (+/-) .7 isn't a huge factor, some teams reach (+/-) 2 wins (UK was -2.2! Very lucky). +/- .7 wins equates roughly to 5-10% either direction in wins the following year. IE, if you were +1.0 the previous year and won 8 games, it would predict 8.8 wins the following year. That said, it's merely a generic factor and such overwhelming returning production (for us), or lack thereof (for them) more strongly predicts future success.

That tweet posted doesn’t really answer the implied question. MSU had the #2 rushing defense in the nation, the #7 passing defense, the #1 total defense, and the #2 scoring defense. That’s why they have 3 first round draft picks – all from that side of the ball. They never gave up more than 28 points in any one of their 5 losses.

And they had a top 20 rushing offense, in large measure because they had a QB who rushed for well over a thousand yards. Their passing offense ranked #112 in the nation. So if you were a relatively good team on defense, Kentucky, Florida, LSU, Alabama, Iowa, you just shut down their running game and they can’t move the ball nor can they score any points.

I think it could be argued that MSU was even worse on offense last year than we were against good/decent teams and that’s because they were so demonstrably one-dimensional they couldn’t even get occasionally lucky in the passing game.

Obviously the defense is going to regress this year by some measure yet to be discovered but their offense was expected to improve overall with this being the second year of Moorhead’s system; however, according to the writer at SDS covering the spring game, their new quarterback greatly underwhelmed and their receivers suck. Their offensive line wasn’t too impressive either.

In the three common opponents we had with MSU last year (KY, UF, & UA), they scored a combined 13 points and gave up 65. We scored 66 total in those 3 games and gave up 112.

In addition to losing 3 first round draft picks from their defensive line and their all-star running back who was masquerading as a quarterback I think they also lost 2 interior offensive linemen, including their starting center, and 3 guys out of their secondary, including both starting safeties.

While a lot of questions remain for both of our teams coming into this year at the moment I don’t see any reason not to think this is a winnable game for us this year, especially since it’s at Neyland. jmo.

Mularkey was a mularkey hire. He was a trash HC who wouldn't get rid of his trash OC

I think teams who can't pressure us with their DL will be in for a world of hurt with Chaney at OC.

WRs are good enough to punish teams who have to cover them for longer than 2-3 seconds on a play...and JG with time has a good enough arm to find open receivers, this 2nd year under Fitz and having a real QB coach should help him take a step or two as a player as well.

I'm excited to see what happens. I don't expect this year to be a big breakout year, but feel better about the talent on roster than I did going into last season.
