But he talked to Russians at some point in his life!
Thank you for explaining exactly why convicted felons shouldn’t be able to vote or by firearms to the dolts here that think otherwise.
I find it amusing to watch Bern Bern spin his web and then answer questions like Danny Devito . So Bern wants to help African Americans vote in jail , he said he will sign the reparations bill if it comes up , he want to help the minorities become successful but only to a point because if they are too successful he thinks that a 90% income tax on them is fair . Oh but that not all , Health care and higher education is a right . Lol isn’t socialism grand ?
To be clear, I think suspending a right to vote during serving of a prison sentence is a reasonable part of suspending the convicted person's civil rights.
Post-incarceration, I have a hard time justifying why they can't then vote, since their rights have been restored.
But, post-incarceration, as a preventive measure, there is a rational basis to continue not to allow them to possess a firearm.
There is a rational basis to deny a convicted felon a firearm even after their sentence is complete given recidivism rates.
The I guess they aren't trustworthy enough to vote either, and I happen to agree with you about the firearms. Apparently most libs pushing the issue aren't bothered by recidivism; of course, they don't think prison is a positive thing either.
And I don’t want to give a convicted wife beater the right to vote again. That’s part of the punishment for being a wife beater.
Under the circumstances, correct.
Same crap. Just going to get worse the longer it gets put off. If you are worried about the other side taking over the best time to do this is with an incumbent in office. They typically stay in power. Not if it put Bernie, Warren, Harris or Biden in the WH.
Not really. And you prove you dont have one because you dont make the same argument for both rights. To be clear, I think suspending a right to vote during serving of a prison sentence is a reasonable part of suspending the convicted person's civil rights.

Tulsi Gabbard: Trump Hiding Saudis’ Role in Sri Lanka Jihad from Christians
2020 Democrat presidential candidate Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (HI) said Wednesday that the Trump White House is attempting to “hide the truth” about terrorism “inspired by extremist Saudi ideology” from Christian voters.

In a video shared to social media, Gabbard argued the attacks on Christians, including the Easter Sunday bombings in Sri Lanka that killed at least 359 people, are “inspired by extremist Saudi ideology that the Saudis spend billions propagating worldwide.”

“The Saudis have been spending billions of dollars spreading this most intolerant form of Islam, sometimes known as Wahhabi Salafism, through this mosque and schools around the world,” Gabbard said.
She continued: “There are hundreds of terrorist organizations who are inspired by and followers of this ideology yet President Trump and Pence, who pose as defenders of Christians and Christianity, have embraced the Saudis — the purveyors of this anti-Christian jihad.”
The Hawaii congresswoman then urged her supporters to call on President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence to end the U.S.’s “unholy alliance with Saudi Arabia.”

Then the same applies to the right to vote.
That being said, I think a big problem with our criminal justice system is the fact people pay for their crimes regardless what the were for life. If a person is sentenced to x number of years and he completes that sentence all (and I mean all) rights should be restored upon their release. No registries, no restrictions and no disclosure. If the crime is so heinous that an individual needs to pay for it the rest of their life they should be in prison for life.
If you go to your county jail and pull the list of inmates who are pretrial or presentencing for felonies, and look at their charges, you will see why you don't want them to have guns.
Someone woke up?Cher Doubles Down: ‘Excuse the Fk Out of Me If I Don’t Want, Murders, Rapists, & CHILD MOLESTERS to Vote’
Pop star Cher defended herself from attacks on social media Tuesday in a series of now-deleted tweets after she was criticized for questioning Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) plan to let felons and terrorists vote.
“TERRORIST KILLED INNOCENT PPL. IM SICK OF BEING NAILED 2 CROSS BECAUSE U PPL THINK IM A RACISTIM NOT GOING TO DEFEND MYSELF
I CARE 4 ALL PPL,TRY TO HELP ALL PPL,” Cher said. “Excuse The Fk Out Of Me If I don’t want ,Murders, Rapists, &; CHILD MOLESTERS of every color to vote.”
This post comes in response to a social media user who criticized Cher for panning the idea of letting felons vote.

If their crimes are that bad they should never get out of prison. Once a person has paid their debt to society they should have a clean slate.
