If you’re kicking onside kick you don’t really care about field position
This.
We were in positions where we considered it a need. If your defense had completely failed to stop them the entire night, the 15-20 yd difference didn't mean a thing.
Still can't believe how well the kicks were executed just for us to not grab the ball.
Mind blowing.

Freddi was way worse. And the team plays for this guy. I don’t think he’s a World Series manager, but I’ll worry about that when we’re a World Series level team.
This team is a bullpen away from being serious contenders. Doesn’t help when Snit mismanages the bullpen we have. It took a miracle to get him to take our worst hitter out of the leadoff spot. Fredi was worse, but Snit is right there at awful. Hopefully he doesn’t come back next year

Not even that but most good teams are 1 or 2 arms away. Our pen legitimately needs to be completly rebuilt.

Ron Washington did fantastic with texas. Wouldn’t be a bad idea to just promote him

8% success rate last year. You're going to give em the ball damn near the 50 yard line 92% of the time
8% was the NFL number correct?
They are way less successful in the NFL than college. But no point in giving a number because it changes drastically each year.

And there's 2 different classifications. The necessary and the surprise.
The surprise has a much higher success rate every year and that's what we tried so many of.
Some years the surprise was rated at around 28% (or higher) successful.

I don't care about that move, but I guess I have to see it before Avengers End Game
She can do all of the things. She absorbed power from the Tesseract. She’s been gone from earth since the 90’s.

As far as Endgame goes, that’s all I could possibly think you need to know

I think onside kicks are almost pointless unless you have to. Statistically isnt it VERY VERY unlikely to recover?

About 1 in 7 times in CFB over the past few years. The comparative analysis (unique to your own team, if possible) is how many additional points per possession you are giving up, by say, the opponent gaining the ball on the 50, rather than their own 25. It's not as much as some would expect. On the flipside, how much is gained by getting the ball around the 45-50? A few points per possession for us, quite a bit more for a really good offense. But given the low probability of recovery, it probably ends in a negative immediate margin being created (I spitball figured about -.5 point for us) for most teams, unless you really trust your kicker or really want to kick up the variance because you are such a dog to win...or love your offense....or your defense will get crushed no matter if it's a 75 yard drive or a 45 yard drive.

Note: the actual analysis would have to go so much deeper, as let's you say get a 3 and out after a failed onside. Receiving a punt from their 25 vs at midfield creates further negative margins for you. Anyway, just some thoughts. Hopefully UT has a team of analytic guys figuring this out and making it applicable to our own team.

Typically so. But Pruitt was doing it when FP still mattered heavily, from the ones I remember anyway.

Imo if you are down to NEEDING a 3 and out to even extend the game, then an onside is worth it. If the only outcome is a 3 and out or the clock expires, then I'd worry a lot less if I get it at my own 30 or 15 and value possession much more. But you don't see it often. People still kick full with 3 minutes left and no timeouts.

Another reason I didn't mind them. They looked darn good and well prepared. I'd bet we gobble 1 or 2 up next season.

Further proof coaches make conservative decisions to save face, not "look stupid" according to folk football theory, rather than pushing every margin to win. One day IBM Watson will become a coach and beat everyone.
Yeah...because going for it on 4th and 1 every time no matter where you are on the field, or what the time and score situation is, is sooo smart...that might be the stupidest thing I have ever seen as far as football strategy goes..😳.

Lol yeah it's over the top on the 4th and 1s. Reminds me of how kids play Madden. Like...you're going to go for 4th and 1 on your own 10? If you are 10 years old and playing Madden...YOU DO.
