Mueller Report Imminent

It’s known the FBI sent Stephan Halper to spy on Trump. Don’t know what you call it other than spying.

It makes you rethink the secret service protection given a presidential challenger considering their boss is the guy he's trying to unseat. Somehow it just seems like there's a conflict of interest. And, who knows, maybe the current president is actually sending subliminal messages to their direct supervisor requiring them to spy on the challenger. This stuff used to be so much simpler before lib-think.

The popular reporting the last couple of days has been that people working in the administration are worried that the report will include within it statements they made to Mueller about how f'd up the WH is, generally and how eccentric and unstable Trump can be. And that when that comes out, he'll blow a gasket and retaliate against anyone that made him look bad.

While I certainly think Trump would do that, two thing suggest to me that its a non-issue. First, I doubt there will be random commentary about the insanity in the Trump WH. Would only be relevant if it had something to do with collusion or obstruction. So I do not expect unconnected commentary about Trump being irrational about some unrelated thing.

Second, where it does appear, I suspect this is the reason for Barr's made-up "peripheral person privacy" justification for redaction. So a lot of that will be redacted.

And when you say “ the popular reporting “ do you really mean “ anonymous senior White House officials “ ?

By f’d up do you mean things like pay to play? Weaponizing the IRS? Spying on opposing party campaigns? Authorizing illegal warrants?

It is a logical concern for people working there. You have to admit that. Trump turns on anyone he even suspects is not being loyal. Look at his remarks about Fox and Bernie. But in the end I do not think it will be an issue for this version of the report, as above.

Maybe later once the whole thing gets released.

So you’re drawing a conclusion based on conjecture that is based on more conjecture that is based on more anonymous sources.

I'm saying that I personally do not think that at least this version of the report will cause the tempest some fear out of Trump.

The long game is probably going to work here. Delay, obfuscate, etc. Barr has done this before, this same exact playbook of releasing his own memo summarizing "principal conclusions." It was a fraud then. It's a fraud now.

But as before it likely will not matter. Trump will be long gone by the time we see the full report.
