I'm done! Now I gotta shave and shower. We're gonna go to the aquarium in Chattanooga tomorrow God willing.

I hope they win for local pride and all, but I've never been able to get into hockey.

About four decades ago, my mother was working just north of Atlanta. She moved her mother from Savannah to an apartment close to her residence. New to the Atlanta area, my grandmother got into hockey (She knew Tommy Lysiak through his wife, Melinda, who lived next door to my family when I was a kid). During one of my residences in Atlanta, I would take my grandmother to the Flames games (She thought the Canadian national anthem was prettier than our own). That was my introduction to hockey.

The Flames, coaches and all adopted my grandmother for her unfailing fandom - in addition to being a season ticket holder, she would go to every public appearance and charity event. Once, the team members put her in the kissing booth and lined up to pay to kiss her on the cheek. She treasured that.

The Flames moved to Calgary. Tommy went to the Blackhawks. My grandmother would join Atlanta NHL fans for trips to Chicago in a tricked out van. She would stay with Tommy and Melinda and attend every game in a series. On one of her trips home from Chicago, she had a stroke. Her hockey pals took her to a hospital in Murfreesboro, TN. She lingered for two weeks before passing. We brought her body to Savannah, GA and interred her in a crypt beside her husband, who had preceded her in death.

Hockey reminds me of my grandmother. Now that Nashville has an NHL team, I'm a fan.

@Tin Man that's a beautiful memory.

You have to go to a Preds game!! Especially playoffs. Even going on Broadway for the watch parties or rooftop bars is fun!
Bring your catfish! They are cutting down on this tradition with searches but best atmosphere outside a Neyland Saturday.
