Jesus H Christ. How many disclaimers does someone need to put on a post around here? Did you read the first or last line of my post?

Excuse me for posting my opinion of the too scared to get a new coach theory. I didn't know that disclaimers meant no one could respond.

Didn't mean it that way. I obviously took your post the wrong way. My bad.:hi:

This is just my humble opinion (which is essentially meaningless), but I have a bad feeling that we're about to enter an Alabama type era where it takes awhile to find the right fit and we end up going through several coaches in the process. I hope I'm wrong on this.

Peyton should hurry and retire, and suite up as head coach!

I would be all for Peyton coming the coach the vols someday. He has a coaches mentality on the field, so I could realistically see him going into coaching someday. He strikes me as a Spurrier type without the attitude.

Somewhere, the people that think Jon Gruden is coming to Knoxville should get together with the people that think Peyton Manning is going to take the job so they can all discuss Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster and the Tooth Fairy.

Your right..... It's waaaay too much of a stretch to think he would ever come to lowly Tn. MH shouldn't waste his time exploring this possibility if Fulmer is let go. Maybe we could some how persuade Rodney Allison from UTC to come here. You know, he's on the hot seat in Chattanooga.

I don't think anybody is saying we couldn't get a great coach, but when talking about Jon Gruden, think about this...

- Highest paid professional coach in all of sports right now.

- Grew up a Tampa Bay Buccaneer fan because his dad played for them.

- Is now 3-1 so far this season.

Why would he even consider leaving his current job for lower pay to coach college football?

How did the "up and comer" approach work out for Ohio State and Georgia?
There is nothing wrong with an up and comer, but we must be sure to get someone who is more proven, and not someone whose team pulls a few upsets and gets his name out there. (Skip Holtz)

You may be correct in assuming that he wouldn't consider TN. I never said he would come here. I'm just making the point that TN should consider him and go after him if the opportunity presents itself. Sounds like you would never get the hot girl to go on date with you because you would be too intimidated to ask her out.

Nothing wrong in asking, just don't get your hopes up, unless his team implodes & finishes with a losing record or the Buccaneers fire him.
