Recruiting Forum Football Talk [RIP 9.3.2019]

Preface: Not in any way being negative toward you. You make a great point.

My opinion is that it waters down the reason people are in the seats. Are they there as fans of a football game or to get a free seat to see a band? If I’m a player/recruit I want to be the focus and have the support of the fan base. I don’t want to wonder if they came to see our hard work or a band. Or wonder if they even like football at all. Again, just my opinion and not meant to be negative in any way toward you. It’s a valid question.

It's a fair point, for sure. Personally though, as a recruit, I'm more excited if I get to experience a concert as well. Proves that the school is willing to go all out and make it the best experience for fans/students as possible.

I mean that fact that UGA brings in a popular rap artist makes the school more attractive to attend. I'd be excited to get to see that - as opposed overthinking why others are there.

Lots of other schools have concerts at halftime or postgame of their spring game to draw more of a crowd. I think it was Ludadris who came to UGA last year.

With such a push to get fans into the stadium for this year’s spring game - anyone know why UT hasn’t tried something like this before?
You can thank Rick Barnes for that. Now we gotta book @Catbone and the boyz

yeah, but one of them makes a lot less sense.

he stayed. for less money than UCLA offered him. every counter to your arguemnt is stronger. i'd welcome the challenge about Barnes or UT's committment....you know, cause there are actual facts that support the committment level...on both sides.

all you got is a speculation on what might happen if another big offer comes....some day.
I'm not speculating on anything. I've said what other coaches are going to say. If you think that we come out looking stronger for what happened over the last couple of days then we just fundamentally disagree. If you think the perception that the outside view of Barnes' commitment to the university is somehow stronger, we just fundamentally disagree. A couple of days ago people would be floored at the thought of Barnes leaving. Today that's not the case.

oh, i think it's clear we disagree.

and i'm not saying people wont' say that in recruiting.

i'm saying it won't matter cause every counter to that argument is a lot stronger......it's a weak argument.

There’s one way to show he won’t leave. No buyout
