Gonna guess Fulmer was able to open up the wallet some for his assistants. Has to have been a sticking point when Barnes was paying one of his guys out of his own pocket while Pruitt apparently got everything he needed.

Apparently, they’ve seen the Tennessee football coach search and responded, “Hold my beer.” It’s been a fiasco.

One S16 this decade and he’s gonna make a 500k more than Tom ****ing Izzo.

Izzy was the third highest paid coach in the country actually. Tennessee is gonna make Barnes the third highest paid coach in the country. You can say whatever you want. Hell of a job by Barnes to get that salary. But Rick Barnes being the third highest paid coach in the country is still ludicrous.

Who frigging cares how much he makes? It would be stupid to let him walk over a lousy million a year or so and then have to go through a search and start all over.

And no I wouldn’t be saying that about any other coach because I understand what the coaching salary market is like. What someone is “worth” in some disembodied, theoretical sense is almost always beside the point.

Sure it’s not my money so overall it doesn’t matter. But if he’s gonna make top 5 money the he should produce those results. He hasn’t in a decade. So now we are overpaying for a good coach with a clear ceiling at 64 years old. You’re acting like Rick Barnes is some sort of superstar up and comer. He’s not. Hell you are complaining about getting an up and comer mid major. I just saw Chris Beard go to OT in the national title game. He was at ****ing Little Rock Arkansas 4 years ago. Pearl and Martin both were mid majors and Pearl has put up better numbers than Barnes AND Martin made a S16 in year 3.

And really? If Texas A&M gave Buzz Williams $4.7M/year you wouldn’t think that’s silly? Come on now.
