..is there, though? Memphis has had to vacate a few years, but I mean... I'm not crapping on Tennessee as I'm sure I'm due to get some clapback especially about 1982-85 and 2008. But those years still happened, and for the oldheads, the memories did too. Even my Memphis friends are always going to remember 2008 as the year the Tigers went all the way, regardless of whether or not the NCAA counts it.

Vols all-time: 1643–1046–2 (.611)
Memphis all-time: 1,406–820–1 (.632)

Kentucky and UCLA are basketball blue-bloods.

It is kinda similar.
I mean in terms of cities and styles of living. You can make all kinds of debates about Lexington vs Memphis.

Knoxville and LA...not so much. Especially if you’re making enough money that cost of living doesn’t matter too much.

How is it any messier than it was this morning or at noon?

The only thing that has changed is media pundits speculating and Vols fans arguing amongst ourselves.
More dirty laundry has come out through the day. Sentiment has been cycling between “get it done, Fulmer” and “get lost, Rick,” but now it seems much more to the latter. People wonder what will happen if he stays, I think fans are feeling more betrayed by him generally than they were this morning.

But if he stays after all this, how will he be received by VolNation?

I'm fine with it and tbh, others should be too (although some won't be). Everything we've heard has been speculation and we honestly don't know what was going on behind the scenes if anything. The fact that this leaked from the LA side and mainly from a reporter who thinks everyone UCLA talks to 'is a done deal because UCLA is so great' speaks volumes.

Doesn't really Matta now. If UCLA wants to put Barnes on the Forbes list, that's their problem. I'm sure we can Marshall the funding to hire a good coach.

Dirty laundry like why exactly? The only thing different between now and this morning is people throwing hissy fits.

“Can't confirm this to the point that I feel comfortable stating that it's gospel fact, but have heard from a couple of different sources today that the $5 million buyout could be a stumbling block. Based on conversations I've had in the past couple of hours the feeling from some people close to the situation is that if UCLA picks up the tab on that buyout then Barnes will leave.

No resolution on the matter as of this moment”

. Gtfo Rick. We better not budge either. Make them pay every penny upfront

I’m sure a lot of it is public interpretation, but the thing coming out about Arkansas, how he thought he had more leverage than he really did, etc.

Looks like it might be all academic anyway.
