This is just a strange situation.

All the love and bonding during the season - the faith based approach. The family approach.

And then this???

Something is off behind the scenes.
Sounds like UCLA is willing to give him stupid money. Money talks. Prayers ain't gonna buy Barnes vacation homes or a royce.

My guess, Phil give Pruitt assistants the moon-- but couldn't keep Lanier. (and if he didn't show up to the Naismith awards, then shows he thinks basketball is second fiddle in spite of all the records broken) That is the only thing that makes sense to me, if you believe that Barnes loved Tennessee better than anything ever and all you mentioned.

Rick Byrd is available without a buyout also. Roster is not terrible he would have us in the tournament again next year. Buy us some time to get our ish together and be prepared to make a hire.

Would he leave? Dude has been at Belmont as long as most of us been alive bro...

The offer isn’t 8M a year...
They have the Barnes buy out money locked up and willing to get close to 6 a year on top of that.
He hasn’t accepted as of right now but all indicators and discussions I have had this morning now point to it taking a miracle to keep him at this point.

100% better. No snow. Less road rage (in Jacksonville not Miami or Orlando), The Beach, flip flops year round, green plants year around, no commute, NO STATE TAXES, less wear and tear on your vehicles unless you live a few blocks or less off the beach, unfiltered Florida man stories, hurricanes rarely hit Jax so that's not really a con, get to skip the ****** seasons like winter or the end of fall or the beginning of spring, casual business attire, etc.
I really like Jacksonville. Was offered a job there years ago. It was a good job and I regret to this day not taking it.

I've gone through this crap before with other posters. As if the whole "Memphis isn't even a part of the state" thing doesn't wear on me enough around Vols boards, this is one of the quickest ways to get under my skin. Makes it sound like I'm a t-shirt fan of both schools which couldn't be further from the truth.
What's wrong with being a t-shirt fan? If only alums could be fans, Neyland would never sell out. T-shirt fans are an important part of all college fanbases. Saying that as a Tennessee alumnus.

sometimes it's just fun. you know i'm from Memphis. it's not like i don't have a frame of reference. and i have a ton of family and friends that went to area schools...Memphis, ARK, MSU, Ole Miss etc....and we all still give each other grief.

stop being a victim.
