Rick Barnes has emerged as a serious candidate the for UCLA job, reportedly has interviewed

Atlantavol saying it will be a mitacle to keep him.
The offer isn’t 8M a year...
They have the Barnes buy out money locked up and willing to get close to 6 a year on top of that.
He hasn’t accepted as of right now but all indicators and discussions I have had this morning now point to it taking a miracle to keep him at this point.
Here's the quote.

So you'd rather continue to watch him kill it at Auburn, which includes beating us, instead of potentially taking a look at him if Barnes leaves?
You ask that question like I have any say in the matter. I'm just providing my opinion of why I can see our administration saying it just can't/won't happen. I don't get a vote in the room for that conversation.

And frankly, he has only "killed it" at Auburn in the past 2 seasons. He was 42-54 in his first 3 years there. At many places, that would have gotten him fired.

Some are factoring in the idea that "killing it" may have a different meaning after the dust settles. He hasn't been "clean" since UT and wasn't before then either. Bruce has made himself an easy target for those that enforce the rules and him not having a traditional job takes a lot of the insulation away that prevents them from making him an example.

So he turning around a program that has been in the gutter for the past two decades?

And no one fires a coach who's task is to rebuild a program in the gutter after 3 years..... especially considering his performance in the SEC Tourney.....

Love the the continued shots at Pearl though... smh

He hasn't been dirty since UT.

He had an assistant using his own influence for personal future gain... That's not on Bruce.
He has another assistant who had issues at a previous job unrelated to Bruce.... That's not on Bruce.

People change and mature with time and experience. I'd wager Pearl would be a much safer hire today than the last time. Don't really care about the optics. At my age, I'm more into results vs what the rest of CBB thinks. Don't see Auburn worried about having Pearl as the face of their program. Don't see it turning off recruits. All I see is exciting basketball, winning and final 4 appearances. I can support a second Pearl era at UT. I'd prefer it actually.
Auburn doesn't care about basketball unless they are winning, and they have next to zero history of that (5 NCAAT trips in the last 20 years). It's easy for a school that is indifferent to basketball to have him as the face of their program. Tennessee has an infinitely greater following for their basketball team.

This situation can’t reflect well on UT. Here we have a coach who’s highly regarded in the profession and should have it made, yet he’s so unhappy that he’s willing to entertain offers from the likes of Arkansas... the job should be highly coveted, but I’d think this would raise some red flags...

How is any of that a shot at Pearl? Good lord, do you even read the posts you quote? Gosh, you are stuck so far up his rear end, its pathetic. You asked a question, I answered it. Sorry it doesn't fit squarely in your pro-Bruce agenda.

What was it in the last 20 years? We have 11 or 12 tourney appearance. Bruce is responsible for half of those. Bruce made basketball at UT fun and a big deal during his time here. He literally doing the same atmosphere at Auburn and they are getting results and money from the program that they haven't seen ever.

Like if you don't want Bruce for reasons outside "he screwed us so no", that's fine. But these people holding holier than thou grudges must have miserable lives.

He had a top ten team preseason, didn’t win a conference title, and didn’t past the S16 as a 2 seed.

He had a much better argument to win last year with a team expected to not do well
Definitely agree with the bolded. Chris Beard deserved it this year. Lost something like 8 of his top 9 scorers from last year and is in the finals tonight.

Yes, Bruce's career at Auburn has been nothing but Successful. He has killed it there in his time. Trying to belittle that is hilarious.

But hey, anything to knock the guy right?

Yeah, don't buy that. He was dirty before and during his UT days (regardless of his public persona and chest paint) and the idea that he just turned over a new leaf and had his best season as a coach at a football school after all that is a little too convenient to buy.
