Barnes is a great coach, not goat, but great.

Pearl and Barnes have shown empirical, irrefutable evidence that Tennessee is a top tier basketball program. Thompson Boling and facilities are top notch.

We can hire a good coach. If we lose him, wo be it. I'd love nothing more than to see him retire here, would be special. But it aint end of world.

Not even suggesting its the end of the world. At most its a major inconvenience at this point that could turn into a disaster depending on where we go as far as a replacement hire.

No it is not. The end of the world would be us winning the sec in 2020 and Pruitt taking over the reigns at Bama. THAT would be the end of us all.

I agree but my confidence in identifying one is what gives me pause.

I posted last night that I didn't think Barnes is going anywhere and that this was good pub for the vol program but if he leaves, it will be negative pub. If Barnes leaves other coaches will question why. He's got a pretty good gig here and to abandon it for UCLA, at his age would make me wonder if I were a coach. Not that I think UCLA is a dumpster fire just given Barnes age it would raise suspicion I would think.

hate that fulmer is even having to deal with all this at once. making 3 hires for our big 3 programs in less than a year and a half, plus shelling out for new oc and dc, would just be nuts. He may budge on salary just to keep shiz sane for awhile.

To clarify on how it will be positive pub. If Phil does what he should do then Barnes and/or his assistants will be getting raises. This show that UT is serious about basketball and recruits and fans outside of Tennessee will say "they're serious about the sport I love so I can invest time and money into the program"

Something to take our mind off of the coaching search....its not like anyone on here is conducting the search. Wringing our hands and burning coaches will only give ESPN fodder to attack us. Plus they were really good movies. Who doesn't like a good movie? Marvel Universe is awesome, followed by DC.
