Rick Barnes has emerged as a serious candidate the for UCLA job, reportedly has interviewed

Only Tennessee can lose COY.
This will leave a mark on Fuller trying to hire another b-ball coach if he wouldn’t give Barnes what he needed.

Barnes is not leaving UT and he is not angling for a raise either. With his season and National Coach of the Year, Fulmer will reward him generously. Barnes has not been concerned with his own personal money...remember he was paying some of his own money to keep has best assistant coach. Barnes will finish his career at UT.
Baghdad Bob? That you? I had no idea you made it out.

The major cost of living difference between LA and Knoxville comes down to housing costs. Outside of that LA isn't much more expensive to live in than Knoxville. Utilities are actually 2 percent cheaper in LA. Household goods/food cost is only 9 percent higher in LA. The average cost of healthcare is actually 35 percent lower in LA. But housing is 327 percent higher in LA, a home in Knoxville averages around 156,000, in LA almost 700,000. I don't know that Barnes would be looking to put down permanent roots there so not sure that housing would be a huge factor.
State tax for those making 1 mil plus is 13.5% in CA
State tax for those making 1 mil plus is 0% in TN

135k per year per million

You forgot state income tax. Sales tax is about the same. Income tax on income over million is over 13%.

I can't imagine you've been to Austin then. It's extremely liberal and was named the 2nd best city for a liberal to live in recently, finishing only behind Seattle. It's easily the most liberal area of Texas and compares favorably to Chicago, New York and Los Angeles on that scale. It's a huge city, about 5 times the size of Knoxville as well. The cost of living there is much closer to LA than Knoxville. It's considered a major outlier in Texas compared to the rest of the state.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. LA is in the top ten, Austin is cheaper than Nashville and Knoxville is a lot less.

Taxes are a big difference. Just ask Phil Mickelson what he thinks about the state taxes.

That’s against NCAA rules, Barnes can’t do that so I’m going to say that’s Urban Legend.

Look up Mark Richt if you don’t think it’s a violation.

7 million is about even money for a move to California compared to his salary here factoring in cost of living.

If he’s really considering it then just get the heck out of here you stupid losing in the sweet 16 SOB. Go there and fail. I will pull for his absolute failure. We gave him a place to coach when he was FIRED. I am ready for him to just leave. He is like most of them. A POS.
