Rick Barnes has emerged as a serious candidate the for UCLA job, reportedly has interviewed

I’m not going to argue over this so it’ll be my last comment but he actually doesn’t have any good sources. Barnes could leave but I 100% promise you from contacts inside the UT basketball program Barnes is not at odds with Phillip Fulmer or his pay/assistant pay or the treatment of him, his basketball team, etc. It’s simply not true.
If this is true, and I am not saying it isn't. I think Barnes will stay.

The major cost of living difference between LA and Knoxville comes down to housing costs. Outside of that LA isn't much more expensive to live in than Knoxville. Utilities are actually 2 percent cheaper in LA. Household goods/food cost is only 9 percent higher in LA. The average cost of healthcare is actually 35 percent lower in LA. But housing is 327 percent higher in LA, a home in Knoxville averages around 156,000, in LA almost 700,000. I don't know that Barnes would be looking to put down permanent roots there so not sure that housing would be a huge factor.

Ricky B wouldn't be a bad choice to replace Ricky B.

I love Byrd but he's done. He admits wanting to play golf and tennis. Even said he's grateful belmont was a place that allowed him to play golf all the time when he could have never done that at a bigger program

13% income tax in CA vs 0% in TN...

Angling for a raise?

Barnes is not leaving UT and he is not angling for a raise either. With his season and National Coach of the Year, Fulmer will reward him generously. Barnes has not been concerned with his own personal money...remember he was paying some of his own money to keep has best assistant coach. Barnes will finish his career at UT.
