It's easy to dismiss now because of hindsight bias, but Heyward had a really good rookie year. The plate discipline he showed was beyond his years, to put it mildly (91 walks!), plus he flashed power potential and base stealing ability. He was just never able to build off of that.

Only reason he didn't win NLROY was because of Buster Posey, and he had a WAR of 6.4 that year versus Posey's 3.9. Acuna's WAR last year was 4.1, but he did hit for both a better average and more power than Heyward did in his rookie year.
