(note: Time of possession is a meaningless stat modern analytics has shown. Efficiency when you have the ball is all that matters. Iirc Auburn had about 50 points and 8 min ToP in the first half of their bowl game).
Not arguing TOs killed us, but UF still beat us play for play. I think using total yards, 1st downs, punts, etc doesn't make sense for this game. All it took them was getting a TO on our side of the field and 2 plays later they were in the end zone. 25 total yards, 0 1st downs necessary.
They did all that damage in a measly 53 plays. BUT it wasn't just short fields, they straight up beat us play for play:
Rushing YPC:
UT - 2.9
UF - 5.9 (double us)
Passing YPA:
UT - 8.3
UF - 9.8
On top of the big rushing discrepancy by carry, our poor rushing efficiency is magnified when you realize we spent a whopping 54 plays trying to run, all for 156 yards. That was 68% of our playcalling that game. We never had much of a chance with that, combined with them gaining yards with ease.
